Saturday 22nd July

Ever wondered what it would be like to walk in the footsteps of a celebrity hero? Try exploring a place linked to a famous artist, musician or author you admire.

See if there's a home or museum you can visit to learn more about their life. For instance, the birthplace of Robert 'Rabbie' Burns in Alloway, or the Brontë Parsonage in Haworth. Or, follow a trail around iconic landmarks from their time there, like one of the many Beatles walks around Liverpool.

Did you know that there are 92 counties in the UK? And some of them have existed for nearly a century! There are 39 in England, 34 in Scotland, 13 in Wales and 6 in Northern Ireland. 52 of these counties have their own flags.

To celebrate Historic County Flag day, design and make a flag for your town or village, or even your county if it's one of the 40 that don't already have one. What elements will you include and why? What materials will you use to make it? Where could you fly it from?

Do you know how to play the part of a daring explorer when you head out on an adventure? What about looking the part? Kick it up a notch and go out in fancy dress!

Visit Chester dressed as a Roman, Lindisfarne as a Viking, or don your detective gear for National Detective Day. If you head out on a Trail adventure, make sure you send us pictures of your fancy dress quest and remember to submit your answer before the end of today to unlock the National Detective Day club badge! Have you ever tried to pronounce Fowey? Or Slaithwaite? Or Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch? Did you get it right?

Pick some words that people commonly mispronounce - this could be place names or general words. Slip them into a conversation so confidently that people don’t notice or correct you!

Why do you think people mispronounce these words? Is it because it's a different language, dialect or slang? Is it because it isn't spoken like it's spelt? Maybe it has some sounds or syllables that are easily mixed up?

When visiting a new place, it can be hard to decide where to start first. Do you want to visit the museums, art galleries and shops? What about places like theme parks and zoos, or walking trails to must-see landmarks?

Get your hands on a map of the UK or your county. Close your eyes and point to a random place, then pick out the closest town or city to that spot that you've never been to before.

Research the top visitor attractions in that area, then take a vote among your family or friends to decide the favourite. Plan a day out to the winning attraction.
