The Chicken Spy Ring - Crack the Code and Save the Chefs!

Attention all Secret Agents! Cambridge's most beloved chefs, Sue Flay and Scott Chegg, have been kidnapped! They were last seen finishing the final draft of their latest cookbook, 1001 Things To Do With Eggs, before being snatched and taken away in a van. The ransom note, sent to their publisher Warren Peace, demands that their book be edited to replace all mentions of eggs with bacon. It's signed by the mysterious L.O.E.A. We've traced the note to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of Cambridge, heavily guarded by what appears to be…chickens? It's time for YOU to put your spy skills to the test and rescue the chefs!

Spy Mission Through Cambridge - River Cam & Common

Get ready to go undercover on a self-guided spy mission through the beautiful city of Cambridge, agents! Your mission is to track down the chefs and crack the code to enter the warehouse where they're being held captive. Your journey will take you through some of the city's iconic open spaces, including Midsummer Common and the scenic 'boat house' section of the River Cam. Keep your eyes peeled for sneaky clues along the way as you decipher the code to save the chefs.

But be careful, agents! The pressure is on and the clock is ticking. The fate of the chefs and their beloved cookbook rests in your hands. Will YOU be able to crack the code and rescue them in time?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Cambridge, there are a few things you need to know...

This Trail is part of a set that covers Cambridge. You can see which area each Trail covers by clicking this link and downloading the Trail territory PDF.

The route is friendly for wheelchair users and pushchairs.

Bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that it is a busy city centre, so dogs will need to be kept on leads, and you may encounter some restrictions.

The closest long-stay pay and display car park to the Trail start point is at Grafton West (CB1 1HE), just a minute’s walk away. Or why not try Cambridge’s fantastic Park and Ride service?

There are some fantastic events in Cambridge’s calendar, all of which are fantastic times to visit this beautiful city. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions. We recommend checking for events before you set off on your mission.

There are public toilets available towards the beginning of the Trail and around Clue 13, plus the route passes several pubs and a few cafes along the way. For the best picnic spots, try Christ's Pieces at Clue 05 or on the common at Clue 15.

Looking for more things to do in Cambridge? Make a day of it and take a tour of one of Cambridge’s beautiful Colleges, or have a go at one of the other Trails in our Cambridge collection!
