In the midst of battle, they confused the 'Star with Rays' badge of the Earl of Oxford (Lancastrian) for King Edward's 'Sun in Splendour' (Yorkist). This blunder led to a pivotal moment in history, as the Lancastrian Earl of Warwick dropped his cherished gemstone brooch while hastily retreating to his horse. Centuries later, historians discovered scribbled notes and a tatty old treasure map, hinting at the location of this lost gemstone. Now, the IES (Intrepid Explorer Society) needs your help to decipher the clues and find where Sir Chin Tooms, the world-renowned archaeologist, may have hidden this precious gemstone.

The route begins at High Barnet station and takes you on a scenic walk along historic Wood Street, where you'll see many interesting buildings. Your journey will then lead you to Hadley Green, the site of the famous Battle of Barnet in 1471. This battle, a significant turning point in the Wars of the Roses, decided the outcome of the struggle between the royal houses of Lancaster and York.
