The Missing Pearls of Chester - Can YOU Solve the Princess's Puzzle?

Princess Penelope Precious is feeling cross and grumpy! No one has any time to play with her, so she sets out on her own little adventure. She purloins her mother's (the Queen) pearls and hides them during her exciting escapade. As she is a rather clever little girl, she makes a map of all the possible hiding places. Her big cousin, Prince Charm-in has a soft spot for Penelope, so he takes the map and starts looking for the pearls, but beware - a band of courtiers are trying to stop him!

Treasure Hunt Through the City Walls and Landmarks of Chester

Intrepid explorers, will you accept our quest? This self-guided Treasure Hunt will have you scrambling around Chester's ancient city walls (believed to be Britain's last full circuit of defensive city walls)! You'll even get to peek at the views of Chester's landmarks and uncover twisting tales along the way.

It's going to be a right royal adventure…

Bored of sitting about in her castle with nobody to play with, grumpy Princess Penelope Precious decided to pinch her Mum's pearls and hide them along Chester's walls! Luckily, the princess was clever enough to draw a map of all the possible hiding places. Can you help her cousin, Prince Charm-in, solve the sneaky clues and recover the pearls before the Queen discovers they are missing?

We have three super duper themed Clubs for your child to enjoy as part of their Treasure Trail experience.

Perfect for 4-8 year olds, the concept behind the Clubs is that your child will get a bundle of goodies to excite them about their forthcoming Trail experience, something to keep them entertained whilst travelling to and from the Trail, and something to be given on completion of the Trail as a keepsake.

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Chester, there are a few things you need to know...

We do our very best to keep abreast of repair work but please ask you to follow any diversions or instructions that such work may cause. If you note anything along the Trail route that you think we need to know about and update, please don't hesitate to let us know via the feedback section when you submit your final answer for the Trail.

This is the fifth Trail in Chester, and as it is such a compact city, the Trail routes do overlap in places, and all other Trails go onto the walls at one or more points. Where there is a common feature such as the Eastgate Clock, there are unique clues to solve at that location.

Unfortunately, this route is not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs due to several sets of steps along the walls.

Bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that dogs will need to be kept on a lead throughout the Trail. It's best if your pups are happy around lots of people and other dogs as the walls can be very popular with visitors.

The Trail starts at Little Roodee pay and display car park, so we recommend parking here. Or, why not use Chester’s fantastic park and ride service? Take the Blue Line bus, hop off at the “HQ” stop, and you’re less than a minute away from the start point!

Chester’s walls are one of the main attractions, so they can get quite busy, especially during peak periods (such as during the Christmas Markets). Once a year, usually in May, the Little Roodee car park is closed for Chester's funfair. You may find that some of the clues on this Trail may become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions. If you would like further information, please contact Chester’s Visitor Information.

There are public toilets available in the Little Roodee car park café, and the route passes several points where you can leave the walls to discover the various refreshment stops Chester has to offer.
