The Secret of Bristol's Broadmead - Save the City from a Ransomware Attack!

Calling all slippery spies! Your self-guided mission will have you sneaking through the heart of the city's main shopping area - Broadmead. Plus, there's intel to unearth in St Peter's and Castle Park. As you tiptoe along, evading enemy agents and detection beams, you'll discover traces of the past hidden amongst the modern art and high street shops.

Save Bristol from a Ransomware Attack!

This mission is TOP SECRET. The Bristol business community has been subjected to a ransomware attack centred on Broadmead. Ransomware is a criminal software virus that infects computers usually through hidden links in emails. It then displays messages demanding a fee to be paid to get the system working again. The ransom demanded in this case is £10 million in bitcoins. It is thought that the criminals are an Eastern bloc spy ring known as the 'Trojans' who have been operating across Europe. Unless the ransomware is destroyed, local businesses face financial ruin. The only way to avoid paying the ransom is to find the unlock code. We need your help to do this Agents and the codename for your mission is 'Achilles'. Take care out there, as the Trojans will try and outwit you!

Prepare for an exciting Mystery Guide Spy Mission as you uncover hidden clues and solve puzzles to save the city from a ransomware attack. Your adventure will take you through the bustling Broadmead shopping area, the historic St Peter's Church, and the scenic Castle Park. But beware, the 'Trojans' are cunning and will stop at nothing to outsmart you.

As you make your way through the city, keep an eye out for sneaky clues and codes hidden in plain sight. Will you be able to crack the code and save Bristol from financial ruin? The fate of the city is in your hands, Agent 'Achilles'.

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome mystery guide adventure to explore Bristol, there are a few things you need to know...

The route isn’t friendly for wheelchair users and pushchairs due to steps along the route.

Bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that it is a busy city centre so dogs will need to be kept on leads.

The closest long-stay pay and display car park to the Trail start point is at The Galleries (BS1 3XD), although other city-centre car parks are just a short walk away. Or why not try Bristol’s fantastic Park and Ride service?

There are some fantastic events in Bristol’s calendar, all of which are great times to visit this beautiful city. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions. We recommend checking for events before you set off on your quest.

Public toilets are available in the shopping centres, and there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops in the city if you need refreshments. Castle Park is perfect for picnics, too.

Looking for more things to do in Bristol? Make a day of it and visit Bristol Aquarium to meet some fishy friends or Bristol Museum and Art Gallery to learn more twisting tales about the city. You could even challenge yourself to one of our other Bristol Trails!
