Navigating The Route

This is a circular Spy Mission through the pedestrianised shopping heart of Broadmead and nearby Castle Park, with Agents working to crack the unlock code and save Bristol’s businesses from a ransomware attack by the sneaky Trojan spy ring.

The mission covers approximately 1.1 miles and should take around 1.5 hours to complete. Operatives will be moving through Broadmead’s shopping streets, around Cutler’s Hall and Quakers Friars, into Castle Park, past St Peter’s Church and along the Bristol Blue Line before returning to the start.

Although much of the route is based around pedestrianised areas, there are still roads and cycle paths to cross. The route also includes steps, including a set of 18 steps up to St Peter’s and steps near The Galleries, so this Trail is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

Getting There

Time to gather your squad and launch Operation Achilles:

By car:  The mission begins in the heart of Broadmead Shopping Centre, at the central crossing point of the pedestrian walkways of Broadmead and Merchant Street (BS1 3EA). Parking can be found nearby at The Galleries (BS1 3XD), or in other shoppers’ car parks nearby, including Cabot Circus and Lower Castle Street.

By public transport: Make your way into Bristol’s Broadmead shopping area, then head for the central crossing point of Broadmead and Merchant Street (BS1 3EA) to begin the mission.

Need the Loo?

Even top Agents need a tactical comfort break before battling ransomware. Toilets are available in The Galleries Shopping Centre and Cabot Circus, so it is worth making use of them before or after the mission, especially as your route circles back to the Broadmead area at the end.

This city-centre mission includes pedestrianised shopping streets, Castle Park, road crossings, steps, cycle paths and busier urban areas. Keep canine colleagues on a lead and close to your squad throughout, and check individual shops, cafes and shopping centres before taking dogs inside.

There are plenty of places to pick up provisions in the shopping areas around Broadmead, The Galleries and Cabot Circus. The mission also ends back where it began, so your squad can choose to return to base or hang around for a celebratory post-mission debrief once the Trojans have been sent packing.

Broadmead Shopping Area

The mission begins and ends in Broadmead, Bristol’s busy shopping heart. With The Galleries, Cabot Circus and plenty of shops and cafes nearby, it is a handy area for supplies, comfort stops and a post-mission refuel.

Quakers Friars and Cutler’s Hall

The route moves around Cutler’s Hall and Quakers Friars, where old Bristol history sits beside modern shopping streets. The area has links to the former Blackfriars site, once a Dominican priory founded in 1227.

Castle Park

Castle Park forms a key part of the mission, with riverside paths, open green space, historic remains and several clues tucked around its edges. Watch for cycle paths while moving through the park, and keep your squad together as Trojan drones may be buzzing nearby.

St Peter’s Church and Physic Garden

The route visits St Peter’s Church, left in ruins after the Bristol Blitz of 1940 and now a memorial to the city’s lost civilians. The nearby Physic Garden adds a quieter green stop before the mission heads back towards Broadmead.
