The Secret of the Golden Bull - Can YOU Solve the Mystery?

Beneath the bustling streets of Birmingham's Bullring Area, a long-lost secret has been uncovered. Hidden within the vaults of the Bullring Rag Market was a mysterious red rag, long thought to be a plain piece of fabric. However, with the help of advanced imaging technology, it has been revealed that the rag is actually a tapestry embroidered with a series of clues and a treasure map!

Legend has it that these clues lead to the whereabouts of the Golden Bull statue that once stood proudly in the heart of the city. Now, it's up to the Intrepid Explorer Society (IES) to find a team of brave adventurers willing to take on the challenge of finding this lost treasure.

The Hunt for the Golden Bull

Are you ready to embark on an immersive self-guided walking adventure through the historic Bullring Area of Birmingham? As you follow the clues and treasure map, you'll journey through the colourful streets and landmarks that make this area so unique.

Starting at the Bullring Rag Market, you'll make your way through Central Birmingham, uncovering hidden clues and secrets along the way. Will you be the first to crack the code and find the Golden Bull?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome adventure, there are a few things you need to know...

The route is friendly for wheelchair users and pushchairs.

Bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that it is a busy city centre, so dogs will need to be kept on leads.

The closest long stay pay and display car park to the Trail start point is at Moor Street (B5 5JH), although you can find cheaper parking at High Street car park (B4 7LN), just a five-minute walk away. Or why not arrive by train into Birmingham's Moor Street Station, where your adventure begins?

There are some fantastic events in Birmingham's calendar, all of which are great times to visit this beautiful city. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail may become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions. If you would like further information about event dates, please contact Birmingham Tourist Information.

There are public toilets available on the station platform, for those arriving by train, and inside the Bullring Shopping Centre after Clue 06. The route passes several pubs, restaurants, cafes and snack shops along the way.

This Trail is short enough to tackle in your lunch hour (if you fancy stretching your legs!). You could easily make a day of it by combining your Trail with a shopping trip at Bullring Shopping Centre or a visit to local attractions - the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is within walking distance. If you're up for another challenge, you could tackle nearby Birmingham - Venice of the North Trail!
