Our Spotlight Location: The Isle of Wight

With this Trail Mail challenge set along the route of our brand new Isle of Wight Spy Mission Trail, allow us to tell you more...

Separated by the Solent and located between 2-5 miles off the coast of Hampshire the Isle of Wight is England's largest island.

The island became a popular tourism destination during the late Victorian era.

Queen Victoria herself said "It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot" when talking about her Italian Renaissance inspired Osborne House which can be found in East Cowes.

Just like Queen Victoria herself, we think the Isle of Wight is a great place to visit as well. So much so we've written 10 self-guided family adventures across the island for you to explore with. Among these is the brand new 'Gremlin Trouble in Newport' Spy Mission Trail.

Our Amazing (and often weird) Fact:

The Isle of Wight is one of the sunniest places in the whole UK.

On average, the Isle of Wight receives between 1,800 to 2,000 hours of sunshine per year. Amazingly, weather stats suggest that this is more sunshine than some parts of Spain!

Now, we can't talk about the Isle of Wight without mentioning Derek Sandy's 'Welcome to the Isle of Wight' song which was featured on ITV's Britain's Got Talent. Enjoy!
