Things to do in Bowness on Windermere - Treasure Trail

Please Note: As much as we love people exploring on our Trails, now is not the right time. We want to help the NHS and protect all of you, so have decided to remove the facility for any Trail sales to be made on our website. As soon as social restrictions are relaxed, we'll make the Trails available again. If you would like to be informed as soon as this is, please drop us a note on the contact page.

Need a bit of retail therapy, or want to get a gift? You can still buy gift vouchers for future use.

The Bowness on Windermere Treasure Trail starts at:

Lake District National Park
Bowness-on-Windermere
Cumbria
LA23 3HE
England

Please Note:

This Trail is not marked as wheelchair or pushchair friendly as the route has sections with no pavement, passes through woodlands which can be quite muddy, and follows a country path which can be uneven in parts.

Bring your four-legged friends along but please note that they will need to be kept on a lead in St Martin’s Church grounds.

The largest pay and display car park nearby is at Braithwaite Fold, approximately a 10 minute walk from the start of the Trail. There is a smaller car park closer to the start point at Glebe Road but this can get very busy, especially in summer months.

There are several great events in Bowness on Windermere’s calendar, with the Windermere Boat Show one of the most popular! Although these are unmissable times to visit, you may find that some of the Clues are obscured or difficult to access during this time.

Public toilets are available at the start and finish of the Trail. Pubs, cafes and other refreshment options are plentiful towards the beginning and end of the trail route.

Why not make a day of it and visit The World of Beatrix Potter or take in the beauty of Lake Windemere with a boat trip! Or why not challenge yourself to another Trail in the nearby town of Windermere
