The Bowness on Windermere Treasure Trail starts at:

Lake District National Park
LA23 3HE

Please Note:

This Trail is not marked as wheelchair or pushchair friendly as the route has sections with no pavement, passes through woodlands, which can be quite muddy, and follows a country path which can be uneven in parts.

Bring your four-legged friends along but please note that they will need to be kept on a lead in St Martin’s Church grounds.

The largest pay and display car park nearby is at Braithwaite Fold, approximately a 10 minute walk from the start of the Trail. There is a smaller car park closer to the start point at Glebe Road but this can get very busy, especially in summer months.

There are several great events in Bowness on Windermere’s calendar, with the Windermere Boat Show one of the most popular! Although these are unmissable times to visit, you may find that some of the Clues are obscured or difficult to access during this time.

Public toilets are available at the start and finish of the Trail. Pubs, cafes and other refreshment options are plentiful towards the beginning and end of the trail route.

Why not make a day of it and visit The World of Beatrix Potter or take in the beauty of Lake Windemere with a boat trip! Or why not challenge yourself to another Trail in the nearby town of Windermere

The Bowness on Windermere Treasure Hunt Trail should be purchased prior to leaving home. Once you have your Trail booklet in your hand you're good to go! The easiest and quickest way to get the most up to date version of the Bowness on Windermere Treasure Trail is to order a download version off the website. You will instantly get a link to download a PDF file of the Trail for you to print at home. This can be done at any time of day or night for instant access. If you would like a hard copy, then choose the printed option online and we will pop one in the post for you to be delivered within 2-3 working days. If you are looking to do the Trail today and don't have a printer, we do have a couple of local retailers (use the search below) or why not purchase a download and go to a local library where you can print it off. If there are no other options though, with a little patience (due to scale and format) the Trail can be used on a tablet and at a push a phone. Sometimes you just want to speak to a real person though, so call one of the team on 01872 263692, Monday - Friday 9am - 5.30pm.
