More Information:

Before you set off on your awesome adventure, there are a few things you need to know...

The Trail has not been marked as friendly for wheelchairs due to sections with very narrow pavements due to cars parking on the kerb. As the route follows pavements and footpaths, which are fairly flat and even, those with pushchairs should find the Trail manageable.

Bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that this is a busy town centre, so dogs will need to be kept on leads.

The closest long stay, pay and display car park is at Broad Street (LA23 2AB), next to the start of the Trail.

Although sturdy shoes are not necessary on this Trail, you may want them for a suggested optional one-mile detour towards the end of the Trail. This takes you up to Orrest Head for a fantastic view, so it is worth allowing extra time for.

There are some fantastic events in Windermere's calendar, all of which are great times to visit this beautiful lakeside town. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail may become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions. If you would like further information about event dates, please contact Windermere Visitor Information.

There are public toilets at the start and finish of the Trail route and a good variety of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants at the start and towards the end of the Trail. If you choose to do the detour up to Orrest Head, a picnic would be very scenic.

Why not make a day of it by taking a walk around the nearby country and lakeside? You could even take a trip to the nearby town of Bowness-on-Windermere to visit The World of Beatrix Potter and challenge yourself to our treasure hunt Trail!

Mini Detective Club

We have three super duper themed Clubs for your child to enjoy as part of their Treasure Trail experience.

Perfect for 4-8 year olds, the concept behind the Clubs is that your child will get a bundle of goodies to excite them about their forthcoming Trail experience, something to keep them entertained whilst travelling to and from the Trail, and something to be given on completion of the Trail as a keepsake.
