Can You Lift The Curse of the Whitby Vampire?

For over a century, the town of Whitby has been plagued by the undead Ivan Tsukyablud, trapped under the curse of the evil Witch Cackle. With his pale skin and blood-thirsty ways, Ivan has terrorized the town for far too long. But now, a glimmer of hope has emerged.

Monsieur Gordon Bleu, a local French chef, has recently discovered a treasure map and a series of clues that he believes will lead to Witch Cackle's spellbook. Fed up with a constant shortage of garlic, Gordon has enlisted your help to solve the clues, find the book, and break the curse once and for all.

The Whitby Vampire Treasure Hunt

Prepare for a perilous journey through the streets of Whitby as you follow in the footsteps of the legendary Bram Stoker, author of Dracula. This self-guided treasure hunt will take you along the stunning coastline and through the oldest street in Whitby before reaching the imposing St Mary's Church.

But beware, the future of Whitby is at stake. Ivan will stop at nothing to keep his curse intact, and you'll need to keep your wits about you to solve the sneaky clues and lift the curse once and for all.

Are you ready for this chilling challenge, Explorers?

Before you set off on your awesome adventure, there are a few things you need to know...

For all those Vampire lovers out there, this is the perfect Trail for you! Showing you the sites of Whitby that featured in the novel Dracula, this is one Trail that shouldn't be tackled alone or after dark...

This Trail is not marked as wheelchair or pushchair friendly as the route follows pavements and footpaths throughout, with cobbles, some steep inclines and a lot of steps (199 of them!).

Bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that there are very few green spaces, and you may need to keep your pup on a lead throughout.

The closest long stay pay and display car park to the Trail start point is at Marina Back on Langbourne Road (YO21 1YN), just a five-minute walk away.

There are some fantastic events in Whitby's calendar, including the Regatta and Winterfest. You may find that during these events, some of the clues may become obstructed or difficult to access. If you would like further information about event dates, please contact Whitby Visitor Information.

There are public toilets available towards the beginning and end of the Trail, and the route passes several pubs, restaurants and a few cafes along the way.

Why not make a day of it and visit the famous Whitby Abbey or continue the fright-fest with a trip to The Dracula Experience! You could even try one of our other Whitby Trails to learn more about this town's interesting history.
