The Curious Case of the Missing Dentist

Reading is abuzz with news of the sad demise of local dentist, Pearl E White. Police officers drilling into the case have ruled out both natural causes and accidental death. They have compiled a suspect list of disgruntled patients, who were unhappy at the pain and suffering they experienced at Pearl's hands but are at a complete floss about who is guilty! Chief Superintendent Den Tuyers has decided it is time (about 2.30?) to appoint you, his best detectives, to work this case and assist officers in filling out the paperwork. Can you track down the evidence to finally work out the full tooth of who wanted revenge on Ms White by performing the ultimate 'extraction'?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Reading, there are a few things you need to know...

The Trail is not marked as friendly for wheelchair users or pushchairs due to steps and staircases along the route.

Bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that this is a busy town centre, so dogs will need to be kept on leads through most of the Trail.

The closest long stay pay and display car park to the Trail start point is at Kings Meadow (RG1 8DF), just a five to ten minute walk away. Or why not try one of Reading's fantastic Park and Ride services?

There are some fantastic events in Reading's calendar, all of which are great times to visit this beautiful town. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions (especially events in Forbury Park). We recommend checking for events before you set off on your investigation.

There are toilets available in both Broad Street Mall and The Oracle shopping centre. There are many cafes, restaurants, pubs and other eating establishments along the way, including numerous on either side of the canal at The Oracle. If the weather is nice, a picnic in Forbury Gardens is a popular choice.

Looking for more things to do in Reading? Make a day of it and visit Reading Museum or the Museum of English Rural Life to learn more twisting tales about Reading and its history. You could even challenge yourself to our Reading Abbey and Forbury Gardens Trail and let out your inner treasure seeker!
