Navigating The Route
This is a circular investigation through Farnham’s historic streets, castle surroundings and Farnham Park, with detectives following pavements, paths and some parkland routes as they track down vital evidence.
The route includes steep hills, steps and sections through the park, which can be muddy after rain, so it is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Take care near roads and crossings, and watch your footing on slopes and uneven ground as you patrol.
Getting There
Nearest parking to the start point at St Andrew's Chruch is:
Waggon Yard Car Park (GU9 7PS) - A handy nearby base for parking before heading to the start point.
The start is also an 8-minute walk from Farnham train station.
Need the Loo?
Even top detectives need a comfort break during a long case!
Public toilets can be found before Clue 07 at Central Car Park. You can also find customer facilities in cafés and supermarkets along the route.
Bring Your Furry Sidekicks
Four-legged detectives are welcome on the case 🐾 With town streets and parkland to explore, it’s a great outing for canine companions - just keep leads handy near roads and be mindful in muddier park areas.
Food & Drink Stops
Detectives won’t go hungry on this case! There are plenty of cafés and shops in the town centre (before Clue 12) and again towards the end of the investigation. Farnham Park (after Clue 16) also has a café and makes an excellent picnic spot - ideal for a mid-case debrief.
Want to Make a Day of It?
Castle Views & Historic Curiosity
Farnham Castle overlooks much of your investigation route and is well worth exploring if open. While there are no clues inside, it adds a brilliant historical backdrop to your case.
Film Locations & Famous Lanes
Lower Church Lane is a bit of a screen star, having featured in various productions. With a TV drama at the centre of your case, it’s the perfect setting to feel like you’ve stepped onto set.
Museum, Gardens & Extra Exploring
You’ll pass Farnham Museum and the Library Gardens along the way - both great little detours if you fancy extending your day. Packed with local history and peaceful spots, they’re perfect for a post-case wander.
There are some fantastic events in Farnham’s calendar, all of which are great times to visit this beautiful town. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions. Please check for any events before you set off.
