Greenwich Cable Car - To Royal Victoria

Essential Intel

Before setting off on this mission, make sure the IFS Cloud Cable Car is running, as it's sometimes closed for maintenance work. Your vital task involves cracking intel on both sides of the Thames, and tickets for the cable car are not included, so they must be purchased separately. A single adult fare is around £6, with discounts for children, contactless, Oyster and travelcard users.

Some steep steps are involved along the route, which is otherwise made up of easy walking on level ground. The lift at the Royal Victoria footbridge is currently out of order, making this mission unsuitable for Agents using wheelchairs at the present time.

Navigating The Route

This is a linear Spy Mission from Greenwich Cable Car to Royal Victoria, with Agents helping special forces in London follow clues around Greenwich and Royal Victoria, use the IFS Cloud Cable Car and crack the code before the alien signal takes over.

The operation covers approximately 1.5 miles and should take around 2 hours to complete. You'll start at Peninsula Square, just outside North Greenwich Station's exit towards the dome, investigate around The O2, take to the skies over the Thames, then continue around Royal Victoria Dock and Royal Victoria Square before finishing at Royal Victoria.

This Trail is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. There are some steep steps, and the lift at the Royal Victoria footbridge is currently out of order, so a climb up stairs may be needed. The rest of the route is easy walking on level ground.

Take extra care along the edge of the dock, where the water is very deep. Keep Mini Agents closely monitored, and nobody should cross railings. The bridge is described as pretty rickety too, so steady feet are part of the mission kit. Treat Millennium Mills as look-but-don't-enter territory: it is described as a dangerous old building, with rotten floors, pigeon faeces and yawning holes that drop eight or nine storeys in some places.

Getting There

By car: The mission begins at Peninsula Square, just outside North Greenwich Station's exit towards the dome (SE10 0PH).

By public transport: Start at North Greenwich Station and head to Peninsula Square, just outside the station's exit towards the dome. This is a linear Trail finishing at Royal Victoria, where you can head off on the DLR or take the cable car back to North Greenwich. If it suits your travel plans, you can start the north part first at Clue 07, then take the cable car south and follow the clues in reverse.

Toilets are available inside The O2 and the ExCeL when open, so plan your comfort breaks around those useful mission checkpoints.

This operation uses the IFS Cloud Cable Car and includes steep steps, dockside stretches and deep water, so check arrangements for any canine passengers before you travel and keep dogs close around the dock edge, railings, stairs and busier areas.

Food & Drink Stops

Alien-signal interception works best with snacks in reserve. There are plenty of chances to stop for refreshments and stock up on snacks near The O2 and Royal Victoria Dock.

You can also pack a picnic to enjoy along the dock between Clues 08-19. There is a safe zone with two covered seating areas either side of a grassy area, making it a handy place to regroup before the next burst of code-cracking.

The O2

The route passes The O2 near the start of the mission, making it a useful place to pause before the intel trail really gathers pace. There are plenty of chances to stop for refreshments and stock up on snacks here, and toilets are inside when open.

Royal Victoria Dock

The later part of the route follows the edge of Royal Victoria Dock, with Royal Victoria Square and views across the water adding plenty of dockside atmosphere. It's a good place to linger with a picnic between Clues 08-19, while keeping everyone safely back from the very deep water.

Trinity Buoy Wharf from the air

Keep sharp eyes peeled from the cable car, as you may be able to see Trinity Buoy Wharf upriver. Its lighthouse is home to the musical composition 'Longplayer', which will not end until the year 2999 - ideal intel for Agents who enjoy their sightseeing with a properly long-range timescale.
