Before You Set Off
Before You Set Off
Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Truro (Truru), there are a few things you need to know...
This Trail has not been marked as accessible for wheelchair users or pushchairs due to some steps, narrow pathways and uneven surfaces along the route. If you have lighter pushchairs, you may be able to navigate them around these obstacles though!
Bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that the city centre can get very busy, so please keep your dog on a lead throughout the Trail.
The closest pay and display car park to the Trail's start point is Garras Wharf long stay pay and display car park, (TR1 2TN, W3W: ///search.woof.begins), which is just a two-minute walk from the first clue. Click/tap here to visit the Cornwall Council website for information on parking and charges. A park and ride service is available from the east and west of the city, too, dropping off at several places - although you'll want to get off at Quay Street to commence your investigations! The railway station is a 15 minute walk away from the start point and the bus station is right next to it!
There are some fantastic events in Truro's calendar, all of which are great times to visit this beautiful city. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions (particularly during the festive period). We recommend checking for events before you set off on your investigation.
There are public toilets available at the start and endpoint of the Trail and near a few clues along the way. The route passes several pubs, restaurants and a loads of cafes throughout the city, with a fantastic picnic spot at Victoria Gardens around Clues 07-10!
Looking for more things to do in Truro? Make a day of it and visit Truro Cathedral or the Royal Cornwall Museum to learn more about Truro's history. You could even challenge yourself to our Truro Riverside and Landmarks Treasure Hunt Trail and release your inner treasure seeker!
