The Tri-River Tournament - A Race Against Magical Creatures

Local-born explorer Richard Lander tragically lost his life while exploring deepest darkest Africa on his final, fateful expedition. But his passing was not what it seems-his final journal entry records his witnessing "creatures unknowne that appear'd in different places when returning to them..." These unknown creatures were impressed by the bravery of the explorer and jumped through a multiverse portal to modern day Truro, creating The Tri-River Tournament as a respectful nod to Lander.

As the only team of mortals entered this year, you'll be racing against unknown rival magical, fantastical creatures and characters to find the hiding spot of the priceless Lander's Chalice of Champions first! Beware of their camouflage skills as you search for the chalice-these creatures will FREEZE SOLID the very instant you look at them, but will hastily come after you the instant you look away... Take care, fair mortals!

Adventure Through Truro's Riverside and Landmarks

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your Tri-River Tournament quest around Truro, there are a few things you need to know...

Unfortunately, the route isn't friendly for wheelchair users and pushchairs due to narrow, uneven footpaths, cobbled road and pathway surfaces and steps. Lighter pushchairs may be able to access the full route but you may need to carry it over some short stretches.

Bring your four-legged friends along! This Trail is along a dog-friendly route, though you will be searching for clues alongside busy roads and shopping areas at times, so they must be kept on leads for these parts.

Truro is well-served by public transport, with both a bus station and railway station a short walk from the start point. National Cycle Route 3, 32 and The Cornish Way all run through the city too. The city offers a park and ride service from east and west.

Access may be restricted to some parts of the Trail on some days due to special events. Lemon Quay at the start and end is host to a Farmer's Market every Wednesday and Saturday and although access to the clues here shouldn't be restricted, it can get very busy, particularly in the lead up to Christmas! Truro is host to a wide variety of events throughout the year - ideal if you want to extend your visit once you've completed your quest.

There are public toilets available close to the start / end point at Lemon Quay and in The Leats, which you'll explore between Clues 08 & 09. The route passes several pubs, restaurants, cafes and snack shops along the way, and there are great picnic spots at around Clues 12-14 and around Clue 16.

Looking for more things to do in Truro? Why not make a day of it and explore hidden gems like Lemon Street Market, The charming Plaza cinema, the Hall for Cornwall and even Truro Cathedral itself.
