A Topsy-Turvy Treasure Hunt in Redfoot Drive

Uh-oh… daring explorer Barnaby Wild has only gone and got himself stuck! He was idly walking under a tunnel in Greenhead Park when suddenly, he was teleported through a wormhole into a topsy-turvy universe called Redfoot Drive. Redfoot Drive is like Greenhead Park, except its miniature railway travels in reverse, the dogs run around backwards shouting 'KRAB!' and the kids slide UP the slides… yikes! Barnaby met a talking pigeon there who handed him a map and a series of clues and told him these items reveal the location of a portal that will transport him back to this world. But alas, all the clues are written back to front and make no sense in Redfoot Drive! They must be solved in THIS universe if he has any chance of ever returning. Can you help poor Barnaby get back home in time for his tea?

Treasure Hunt Through Greenhead Park

Ace adventurers - we need you! Your self-guided treasure hunt takes place entirely within Greenhead Park. That means no roads to cross but plenty of wide-open spaces where rival explorers might spot you! Stay alert as your curious quest takes you past statues, pools, and even a miniature railway. But don't get too distracted by all the fun and games…

This adventure is going in a strange direction! Daring explorer Barnaby Wild was idly walking under a tunnel in Greenhead Park when he was teleported through a wormhole! What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Huddersfield’s Greenhead Park, there are a few things you need to know...

This Trail takes place entirely within Greenhead Park. The park opens at 7am and closes at 6pm in winter, 8pm in spring and autumn, and 10pm in summer.

The route is friendly for wheelchair users and pushchairs.

Bring your four-legged friends along! This Trail is along a dog-friendly route.

There is a small pay-and-display car park at the park (HD1 4BZ), where your quest begins, as well as on-street parking nearby.

There are some fantastic regular activities and one-off events that take place in Greenhead Park. These are great times to visit the area, but parking may be busy, and some clues may become obstructed or difficult to access if large events are taking place. You can find a list of regular activities here, and we recommend checking for any events before you set off.

‘The Park Café’ is near the start and finish of your expedition and is usually open from 10am to 3pm. There's also the ‘Cafe in the Park’ between Clues 08 and 09. Toilets are available in both. Or bring supplies with you - this is the perfect Trail for picnicking.

Looking for more things to do in Greenhead Park? Make a day of it and visit the Miniature Steam Railway (Saturdays 1:30pm-4pm), try your hand at boules or splash about in the paddling pool (May-September). You could even head into town to challenge yourself to our Huddersfield Trail and let out your inner daring detective!
