Bristol
During his journey to the Redcliffe Caves, renowned globetrotter, Cameron Eideecard, accidentally dislodged a rock. What could have ended in catastrophe actually led to Cameron discovering a crumpled rag tucked away in a hidey-hole! On it was drawn a rough map and instructions as to where pirate booty from the captured French ship, "A l'eau, C'est l'heure" was buried long ago. Cameron is desperate to unearth the treasure, but a planned expedition to deepest darkest Peru leaves him little time to track it down. He's contacted the Exploration Society and has requested help from our most intrepid Explorer - YOU! Can you follow the Clues and pinpoint the location of the loot? You may be rewarded.

As you follow the Trail route, can you solve the sneaky clues set on existing buildings, permanent features and monuments to discover the location of the buried treasure?
The Trail explores a fascinating and diverse area of the city from Bathurst Basin, through Redcliffe and towards Temple Meads. You'll return back via the contrasting steel and glass of the redeveloped Temple Quay and the ancient Temple Church to arrive in Queen Square for a final flourish.

Temple Church (around Clue 14) is noted to close at 4pm, though times can vary depending on the season or special events - it’s worth checking ahead before setting off to avoid missing out on vital clues.
Navigating The Route
This is a circular treasure quest around Bristol’s Redcliffe and Temple Quay areas, with explorers following pavements, cobbles and riverside paths as they hunt for hidden pirate loot.
There are slopes, steps and some uneven ground along the way, so sturdy footwear is a must for this expedition. Take extra care near the water’s edge, as parts of the route run alongside open water - no need to get too close though, as no clues are placed in risky spots!
Parking Sorted!
Your expedition begins on the quayside outside M Shed Museum, so there are several convenient parking options within a short walk of the Trail start point:
Wapping Wharf Car Park (BS1 4RW) - A convenient pay and display option just behind M Shed.
Alternatively, arrive undercover by train at Bristol Temple Meads and join the quest from Clue 11 if you prefer.
Need the Loo?
Even the most seasoned explorers need to plan their pit stops!
Toilets can be found just after Clue 01 at M Shed, making it a handy early stop before your quest gets into full swing.
There are also plenty of cafés, pubs and shops along the route where you can refuel, regroup and perhaps plot your next move.

There are plenty of interesting sights and smells along the harbourside and city streets, but keep leads handy near roads and especially around the water.
