We've received word that the notorious anti-environmentalist, Seymour Smog, has hatched a dastardly plan to drain the Norfolk Broads in order to build more roads. We can't let that happen! Smog has hidden his plans, but one of our colleagues at Spy HQ - Agent Cam O'Flage - managed to sneak into his lair. He discovered a map detailing possible burial sites for the hidden plans, along with clues that will lead us to the correct one. The Exploration Society has been tasked with solving the clues and pinpointing the final spot. We need the help of our top adventurers - and that's where YOU come in! Do you have what it takes to crack this quest and foil Smog's sinister scheme? We're counting on you.

Then why not embark on this self-guided Treasure Hunt Trail that will take you on an exciting journey through the two towns. As you follow the route, can you solve the sneaky clues set on existing buildings, permanent features, and monuments to discover the location of the buried treasure?
This circular Trail starts in the car park off Station Road, on the north side of the river. The route leads you through the streets of both Wroxham, also known as the Capital of the Broads, and Hoveton, as well as including a short section alongside the river itself.

Navigating The Route
This is a circular Treasure Hunt through the Broads villages of Wroxham and Hoveton, with explorers following pavements, riverside paths and village walkways as they track down Seymour Smog’s hidden drainage plans.
The ground is mostly good underfoot and fairly level throughout, making it suitable for both wheelchairs and pushchairs. After heavy rain, however, localised flooding may make some clues trickier to reach, so it’s worth checking conditions before setting off.
⚠️ Important: You will be travelling along roads, crossing points and stretches beside open, deep water, so explorers should stay alert at all times, use crossings where available and keep younger adventurers under close supervision.
Take extra care near the river and broads edge, where the water is deep even close to the bank.
Getting There
Time to gather your explorers and begin the quest:
By car: Roys Medium Stay ‘4-hour’ Car Park, Station Road (NR12 8UR) is your best base. Parking here is free, but the car park is locked at 9pm, so be sure to allow enough time to complete your adventure.
By public transport: Wroxham & Hoveton Railway Station sits right by the start point, making this an easy quest to reach by train.
Your adventure begins near the railway station in Hoveton, so step into position and start scanning for your first clue straight away.
Need the Loo?
Even the most intrepid explorers need a quick pit stop!
Public toilets can be found near Clue 17, so it’s worth planning your stop as facilities are not spread evenly across the route.

With a mix of village paths and waterside walking, it’s a great outing for dogs - just keep leads handy near roads, wildlife and especially along the water’s edge.
Food & Drink Stops
Treasure hunting is hungry work!
You’ll pass a small shopping centre near Clues 09 and 16, making it a handy place to stock up on supplies mid-quest.
There are also picnic tables near Clues 11 and 16, perfect for a scenic refuel before diving back into your Broads-saving mission.
