Spy Mission Through Wokingham - Town & Gardens

An international spy ring, K-OS, is planning to decimate all oak trees in an attempt to gain notoriety as a force to be reckoned with. They have planted a device that, if activated, will disperse giant oak weevils to prevent the trees from producing acorns and ultimately kill all existing trees. Wokingham's town symbol is an acorn with oak leaves, so the town's authorities and all residents have a particular interest in preventing this wicked plan from succeeding. They feel that the very integrity of their town would be compromised if the oak trees were to disappear. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to solve a series of Clues that will enable you to identify the secret code required to deactivate the dastardly oak-killing device.

Prepare for an exciting self-guided Spy Mission that will take you deep into the historic and scenic towns of Wokingham. As you journey through Howard Palmer Gardens, Elms Field, Wokingham Town Centre, and St. Paul's Parish Church, you'll uncover sneaky clues hidden in historic buildings, permanent features, and intriguing monuments.

Get ready to stop K-OS and their really weevil plot, agents. The fate of Wokingham's oak trees is in your hands. Can you identify the secret code required to deactivate the dastardly oak-killing device?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Wokingham, there are a few things you need to know…

Although there are works in progress in Market Square and Denmark Street, all clues are currently accessible and solvable.

The route isn’t friendly for wheelchair users and pushchairs due to some uneven terrain and unavoidable steps.

Bring your four-legged friends along! This is a dog-friendly Trail.

The closest long-stay pay and display car park is at Denmark Street (RG40 2BB), where your quest begins.

There are some fantastic events in Wokingham’s calendar, all of which are great times to visit this brilliant town. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions. Please check for events before setting off/.

There are public toilets available at Clues 08-09, and the route passes several shops and cafes after Clue 09.

Looking for more things to do in Wokingham? Make a day of it and stop for a picnic in one of the towns lovely green spaces or play a game at the bowling alley. Or, jump back into your undercover vehicles and head to Dinton Pastures Country Park, a 10-minute drive away – where there’s adventure golf and an activity centre to entertain the whole family.
