In 1645, the English Civil War raged on, and the Crown & Treaty pub in Uxbridge was a hub for negotiations between King Charles I and the Parliamentarians. Legend has it that during these meetings, a widowed mother of ten disguised as a maid and stole a valuable Royal heirloom - a giant, multi-jewelled key - from the King's lodgings. She sold it off to provide for her children, but the key's whereabouts have remained a mystery…until now.

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Uxbridge, there are a few things you need to know...

Fassnidge Park opens at 9am throughout the year and closes at varying times throughout the year: 8pm (May-August), 7pm (September), 6pm (April), 5pm (March and October) and 4pm (November-February).

The route is not marked as wheelchair friendly, but those with light pushchairs should find the route manageable.

This Trail takes you through a very busy city centre, so we would not recommend bringing your four-legged friends along.

The start and end locations of this Trail are located directly opposite Uxbridge Station, which is on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines.

Access may be restricted to some parts of the Trail on some days due to special events or marches in central London. It’s always best to check for known road closures ahead of travel.

The route passes several cafes and snack shops as you explore. The parks and canal areas make great picnic spots if the weather is nice!
