A trail of clues awaits in

Usk

Green-fingered Rose Bush, the manager of a garden centre at Usk, loves growing rare plants. Recently, she acquired some seeds from a rare flower species found only on the highest peak of the highest mountain range in Northern China. Usk would certainly win Wales in Bloom again if these flowers made their way into the local gardens! To keep the seeds safe, Rose stored them in an ornamental chest displayed in the garden centre. Imagine her horror when Rose found the treasure chest had disappeared! Could a rival gardener have pinched them in the hope of getting the Town of Flowers title for themselves? All seemed lost until Rose unearthed a map and some curious Clues tucked between the lilies and the orchids. The Exploration Society has been called in to help - we need TOP Explorers (YOU!) to follow the Clues and track down the treasure trove.

More Information:

Navigating The Route

This is a circular Treasure Hunt through Usk’s historic streets, riverside paths and green spaces, with explorers following pavements, paths and some cobbled areas as they track down the missing seed stash.

There are narrow pavements, cobbles and some higher curbs along the route, so wheelchair users may struggle or need to detour and skip a couple of clues. You’ll also pass sections near the River Usk, so take great care near the water, supervise your team closely and stay alert when crossing roads.

Getting There

If arriving by car, Maryport Street North Car Park (NP15 1ED) will be your official expedition base, with toilets available on site.

Usk is also served by local bus services from nearby towns.

Need the Loo?

Even seasoned explorers need a quick pit stop!

Toilets are available at the start and finish in the car park.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged explorers are welcome on the quest 🐾

With town streets and riverside paths to explore, it’s a great outing for canine companions - just keep leads handy near roads and especially close to the river.

Essential Intel

Map-Based Quest & Clever Elimination

This is a classic map-based Treasure Hunt, where each clue helps you eliminate locations until only one possible hiding place remains. Keep your notes clear and your thinking sharp - the treasure is closer than you think!

Picnic Spots & Optional Detour

There are some great places to pause along the way, including two recommended picnic spots and an optional detour across the bridge to a riverside island with a playground and extra space to explore.

Perfect for a break before the final push to uncover the treasure.
