The notorious Scottish smuggler, Heidi Taway, has set her sights on expanding her piracy operation further north. While scouting for the perfect hideout, she stumbled upon a treasure map hidden in the secret tunnels beneath Troon. With the help of the Exploration Society, you, our top adventurer, have been tasked with cracking the clues and uncovering the hidden hoard of the infamous pirate Bluebeard McGill. But beware, Chief Ivor Hadenuff and the local police are hot on Heidi's trail!

Looking for a fun day out with family and friends in Troon? Look no further! This self-guided treasure hunt themed Trail will take you on an exciting adventure through the picturesque town of Troon. As you follow the Trail route, keep an eye out for sneaky clues hidden on existing buildings, permanent features, and monuments. Can you solve the riddles and uncover the location of the buried treasure?
The circular Trail starts at the South Beach Kiosk and takes you along the beautiful esplanade, before turning towards St Meddans Church and into the Gordon Brown Memorial Garden.

Navigating The Route
This is a circular Treasure Hunt through Troon’s esplanade, gardens and harbour, with explorers following pavements, paths and coastal routes as they track down Bluebeard McGill’s hidden hoard.
The route is mostly flat and well-surfaced, making it suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are some road crossings and a longer stretch along the seafront, so take care near traffic and keep your expedition team close together as you explore.
Getting There
Time to gather your explorers and begin the quest:
South Beach Road Car Park (KA10 6EF) - Your expedition base, right by the seafront and close to the start point.
From here, head towards the beach and kiosk to begin your hunt.
Need the Loo?
Even the boldest adventurers need a quick pit stop!
There are no public toilets available along the route, so it’s best to plan ahead before setting off.
Bring Your Furry Sidekicks
Four-legged explorers are welcome on the quest.
With coastal paths, gardens and open areas to explore, it’s a great outing for canine companions - just keep leads handy near roads and in busier spots.

With plenty of open space and a long stretch by the coast towards the end, this Trail is ideal for a picnic break. Just remember to bring supplies - there aren’t many refreshment stops along the way!
