Top secret!

We've got a mission for you in

Strathaven

Undercover agents have uncovered a plot by international spy Sven Doublo to sabotage the highly acclaimed Strathaven Balloon Festival in his attempt to gain further notoriety as a force to be reckoned with. He has planted a device which, if activated, could launch lots of little drones into the air to bring down those balloons and ruin the Festival. Our source, working undercover close to Sven, has planted Clues around the town which, if solved, will provide us the code to deactivate Sven's madcap device! We need the help of our best agents to follow the Trail of Clues to help solve the deactivation code. Are you up to the challenge?

Spy Mission Through Strathaven

Join us on an exciting self-guided Spy Mission through the charming town of Strathaven. As you follow the Trail route, you'll explore the town's historic and scenic areas, solving sneaky clues set on existing buildings, permanent features, and monuments to crack the code and complete the mission just like a true secret agent.

The Trail starts at the Common Green, and proceeds through Townhead Street and Ryeland Street. Solve the clues as you continue past Strathaven Public Hall, the war memorial, the Boo-Backit Brig, and bowling green and then back to the Common Green.

More Information:

Easy to Navigate

This Spy Mission takes agents on a circular walking route around Strathaven’s town centre, historic streets and green spaces. You’ll follow pavements, paths and a few cobbled sections as you explore landmarks, the cemetery and park areas.

There are some steep hills, steps and uneven ground along the way, particularly near the cemetery and war memorial. Because of this, the route isn’t suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs, so sturdy footwear is recommended.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged agents are welcome on this mission! Dogs can join you along most of the route and will enjoy exploring the town and nearby green spaces.

Just keep leads handy near roads and in busier areas, and be mindful around the cemetery and parkland sections.

Parking Sorted!

Parking is simple and conveniently located at the start of your mission:

Common Green Car Park (ML10 6AF) – Free parking for up to 2 hours and perfectly placed for the Trail start point.

A great launchpad for your undercover operation!

Need the Loo?

Public toilets can be found in John Hastie Park (near Clue 18), which also makes a great spot for a quick break or a spy picnic.

There are also plenty of cafés and shops along the route where agents can refuel and regroup.

Want to Make a Day of It?

Strathaven Park & John Hastie Museum

Strathaven Park offers wide green spaces, walking paths and a relaxing setting after your mission. It’s also home to the John Hastie Museum, where you can uncover more about the town’s history and heritage.

Historic Market Town

Strathaven has been a bustling market town since gaining burgh status in 1450. As you explore, you’ll pass traditional buildings, the Common Green and plenty of spots that hint at the town’s long and lively past.

Boo-Backit Brig & Local Legends

The charming Boo-Backit Brig (bow-backed bridge) and surrounding riverside paths add a scenic touch to your adventure. With local legends, historic figures and quirky stories woven throughout the town, there’s plenty more to discover once your mission is complete.

Mini Secret Agent Club

We have three super duper themed Clubs for your child to enjoy as part of their Treasure Trail experience.

Perfect for 4-8 year olds, the concept behind the Clubs is that your child will get a bundle of goodies to excite them about their forthcoming Trail experience, something to keep them entertained whilst travelling to and from the Trail, and something to be given on completion of the Trail as a keepsake.
