What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Navigating The Route

This is a circular Detective Mystery through Stafford’s town centre, parks and riverside paths, with sleuths following pavements, pedestrian areas and park routes as they track down vital evidence. The route is mostly flat and well-surfaced, making it suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are a few busy road crossings and a stretch near the river, so take care with traffic, keep to paths and supervise junior detectives closely near the water.

Getting There

Time to assemble your squad and open the case file:

Market Square (ST16 2JH) - Your official investigation start point, right in the heart of Stafford.

North Walls Car Park (ST16 3AD) - A handy nearby parking option, with plenty of other town centre spaces available if needed.

Need the Loo?

Even top detectives need a comfort break during a long investigation!

Public toilets, cafés and plenty of snack stops can be found along the route, especially around the town centre and park areas. Ideal for a quick refuel and evidence review.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged detectives are welcome on the case.

With town streets, green spaces and riverside paths to explore, there’s plenty to keep noses busy - just keep leads handy near roads and the river.

Park Patrol & Picnic Spot

Victoria Park (between Clues 13–17) offers a perfect stakeout location, with space for a picnic and even a café for a well-earned break. A great chance to regroup before the final push.

Want to Make a Day of It?

Historic Streets & Courtroom Clues

From the Shire Hall to centuries-old streets, this investigation is packed with locations steeped in legal history, local tales and suspiciously good hiding spots for clues.

Riverside Rambles & Stakeouts

The route dips into leafy parkland and follows the river, offering a calmer stretch of the investigation - but stay sharp, as key clues (and potential red herrings) could be lurking nearby.

Markets, Museums & Case Breaks

With lively shopping areas and historic buildings dotted throughout, there are plenty of places to pause, refuel and compare notes before closing in on the culprit.
