Before You Set Off
Navigating The Route
This is a circular spy mission through Rhayader’s town streets, riverside paths and parkland, with agents following pavements, lanes and footpaths as they track down the code.
The route includes a steep incline and some unavoidable steps, so it is not suitable for wheelchairs, but should be manageable for pushchairs with care.
⚠️ Important: Several sections of the mission take you along narrow pavements beside busy roads, where traffic can pass very close. Agents should walk in single file, stay well back from the road edge, avoid sudden movements and keep younger operatives under close supervision at all times. Stay alert and keep your spy senses switched on - the traffic is far more dangerous than ROAR’s agents!
Getting There
Time to deploy your agents and begin the mission:
Dark Lane Pay & Display Car Park (LD6 5DA) - Your undercover base where this wild assignment begins.
You’ll be on foot from here, so make sure your team is fully prepped before stepping into the field.
Need the Loo?
Even elite agents need a quick comfort break!
Public toilets can be found:
At the car park at the start and near the riverside around Clue 13
Bring Your Furry Sidekicks
Four-legged agents are welcome on this mission.
With a mix of town paths and riverside stretches, it’s a great outing for canine companions - just keep leads handy along the busy sections and along the water.
Food & Drink Stops
Agents, plan your refuelling carefully!
There are opportunities to grab refreshments and stock up after Clue 05, but options are more limited beyond that.
For a proper break, the riverside area around Clue 13 makes an excellent picnic spot - ideal for a mid-mission debrief while keeping an eye out for ROAR operatives.
Want to Make a Day of It?
Riverside Walks & Parkland Patrols
The River Wye adds a scenic twist to your mission, with peaceful paths and open green spaces that double as perfect hiding spots… for clues or enemy agents.
Wildlife, Red Kites & Open Skies
Nearby Gigrin Farm is famous for its red kite feeding - a spectacular sight if you time it right. A brilliant add-on for nature-loving agents.
Dark Skies & Big Landscapes
Just outside Rhayader lies the Elan Valley, a designated dark sky area. If your mission runs late, you might even catch some of the clearest stargazing in the UK - the perfect end to a day of espionage.
