The Secret Box of Rhayader - Crack the Code and Save the Day!

Meet Chris de Sirch - beloved wildlife broadcaster and all-around good guy. But, as it turns out, he had a secret - a double life as the leader of a band of poachers! After Chris's passing, a locked box was discovered among his prized possessions. What could it hold? The truth behind his nefarious deeds, or something even more sinister? The race is on to crack the code and find out!

Spy Mission Through Rhayader - Castle & Riverside

Attention all sneaky spies - we have a wild task for you! Your self-guided Spy Mission Trail will have you tiptoeing around Rhayader - the Outdoors Capital of Wales. Follow the clues, creep through the town, and keep your eyes peeled for vital intel, enemy agents, and leaping salmon. But don't get too distracted by the rugged scenery - there's a mission to complete!

After his passing, the truth behind Chris de Sirch's double life as a poacher was revealed. Now, with enemy agents from ROAR on our tail, we must crack the code to unlock the box before they do. Inside, we may find a map leading us to Chris's hidden trophies, which could be sold on the black market to fund their evil schemes. We can't let that happen! Are YOU up for the challenge, TOP Agents?

The Secret Box of Rhayader is waiting… Will YOU be the one to save the day?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Rhayader (Rhaeadr Gwy), there are a few things you need to know...

The route isn’t friendly for wheelchair users and pushchairs due to a steep incline and unavoidable steps.

Bring your four-legged friends along! This Trail is along a dog-friendly route.

The closest long-stay pay and display car park to the Trail start point is at Dark Lane (LD6 5DA), where your mission begins.

There are some fantastic events in Rhayader’s calendar, all of which are great times to visit this beautiful town. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions. If you would like further information about event dates, please contact Rhayader Visitor Information.

There are public toilets available towards the beginning and Clue 13. The route passes plenty of refreshment stops after Clue 05 and a picnic spot beside the river at Clue 13.

Looking for more things to do in Rhayader? Make a day of it and visit TimeScape Rhayader to discover more twisting tales, or explore Gilfach Nature Reserve and visitor centre for more outdoor adventures.
