More Information:
Navigating The Route
This is a circular Spy Mission around North Walsham’s streets, Market Place, church grounds and Memorial Park, with Agents working to free undercover operative Julie Quench from an underground chamber sealed by an electronic force field.
The mission covers approximately 1.5 miles and should take around 1.5 hours to complete. You’ll sneak from New Road through town streets, head into the Market Place, investigate the grounds of St Nicholas’ Church, weave through King’s Arms Loke, pass the old school area and finish with a sweep through North Walsham Memorial Park.
The ground underfoot is good throughout, making this Trail suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are road crossings, narrow pavements and a short section with little or no pavement along King’s Arms Street, so keep Mini Agents close and take your time where the route tightens.
Getting There
Time to assemble your Agents and start Operation Force Escape:
By car - Begin your mission outside the library on New Road (NR28 9DF).
Pay and display parking is available here for your undercover vehicle, and your first clue can be found within the car park itself, so don’t rush off before checking the immediate area.
By public transport - Make your way into North Walsham town centre, then head for the library on New Road to begin the mission.
Need the Loo?
Even elite Agents need a tactical comfort break before tackling force fields and crooked politicians. Public toilets can be found at the start and end of the route, so it’s worth making use of them before the mission gets properly underway.
Bring Your Furry Sidekicks
Four-legged Agents can join the operation 🐾
This route includes town pavements, church grounds, lanes, crossings and park paths. Keep canine recruits close throughout, especially near roads, narrow pavement sections and the busier Market Place area. Any dog who barks at CCTV cameras may be promoted to surveillance support.
Food & Drink Stops
Freeing a captured agent is hungry work.
There are some chances around the Market Place to grab refreshments and supplies. If your squad has packed rations, North Walsham Memorial Park near the later clues makes a good picnic stop once the mission is nearly cracked and Julie is practically rattling the cell door.
Want to Make a Day of It?
St Nicholas’ Church
The mission visits the grounds of St Nicholas’ Church, one of North Walsham’s most striking landmarks. Its tower was once Norfolk’s second tallest, before bell ringing, collapses and falling masonry left the dramatic broken silhouette you can still see today.
North Walsham Market Place
The Market Place sits at the heart of the mission and is a useful place to pause, refuel or linger after the code-cracking. Look out for the Market Cross and drinking fountain while soaking up the town-centre bustle.
North Walsham Memorial Park
The later section heads into Memorial Park, where Agents can slow the pace after plenty of street-based sleuthing. It’s a good family-friendly add-on for a picnic, play area time and a little post-mission decompression once Julie’s escape plan is safely underway.
