A trail of clues awaits in
Melton Mowbray
Many years ago, in the 1190s to be precise, Bill de Mowbray amassed a great fortune in gold to use as a ransom for the release of King Ricky the Wellard from captivity in Austria. However, much of the gold was never used and its whereabouts have remained a mystery. Some say it was taken by highwaymen, others believe the bishop and his brother may have kept it, and some even speculate that it was lost at sea. But now, a new lead has emerged.
Can YOU Solve the Mystery of Bill de Mowbray's Lost Gold?
Recently, during construction work near the station, an old parchment map bearing de Mowbray's seal was discovered. The Exploration Society has recreated the map and is now seeking a team of top explorers to follow the clues and uncover the location of the lost treasure.
Your adventure begins in Melton Mowbray, where you'll explore the town's historic streets, Market Place, and the Anne of Cleeves building. From there, you'll venture into the Town Estate parklands close to your starting location, solving sneaky clues set on existing buildings, permanent features, and monuments.
