Navigating The Route

This is a circular Treasure Hunt across the Malvern Hills, taking explorers on a challenging hill walk with some steep climbs and descents as you track down the lost gold.

Your quest begins with a steady but demanding climb up to the Worcestershire Beacon, followed by further ups and downs across open hills, tracks and grassy paths before returning to the start. This is not a gentle stroll - expect uneven ground, exposed sections and a proper workout for your legs!

Due to the terrain, gradients and natural paths, the route is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Sturdy footwear is essential, and you should take extra care on steep sections, especially in wet or windy conditions.

Getting There

Time to gather your explorers and prepare for the climb:

West of England Quarry Pay & Display Car Park (WR14 4DG) - Your expedition base, located between the Wyche Cutting and West Malvern.

Make sure you start at the north end of the car park, as your first clues are waiting here.

Need the Loo?

Plan ahead before tackling the hills!

There are no toilets on the hills themselves, with the only facilities available at St Ann’s Well Café (when open) along the route. It’s best to check opening times in advance and go before you set off.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged explorers are very welcome on this adventure.

This Trail is marked as great for dogs, with miles of open hillside to explore - just keep leads handy where needed and be mindful near steep drops and livestock.

Food & Drink Stops

This is one adventure where planning your supplies really matters!

There are very limited refreshment options on the hills, so it’s strongly recommended to bring plenty of water, snacks or a picnic to keep your team fuelled throughout the expedition.

St Ann’s Well Café offers a potential stop partway round (if open), but don’t rely on it - come prepared! Please have a look at their website to check the opening times
