What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

PICTURE ONLY TRAIL

This is one of a handful of 'Picture Only Trails'. This means that all clues include an image to find, great for younger explorers, as well as those of all ages!

Navigating The Route

This is a circular Treasure Hunt through Lowestoft’s seafront, promenade, pier and surrounding streets, with explorers following pavements, paths and coastal routes as they use images and clues to track down a long-lost stash of German gold.

The route follows good, level paths and pavements throughout, making it suitable for both wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Important: You will be travelling along busy seafront areas, crossing roads and exploring close to the beach, pier and sea wall, so explorers should use crossings where available, stay alert at all times and keep younger adventurers under close supervision. Take extra care near the sea wall and pier, where there are steep drops and deep water, and remain alert for cyclists using the designated cycle lane along the Esplanade.

Getting There

By car: Royal Green Pay & Display Car Park (NR33 0AY) is your best option, located close to the start of your adventure.

By public transport: Lowestoft is well served by bus and rail links, with the seafront and start point within easy walking distance from the town centre.

Need the Loo?

Even the most intrepid explorers need a quick pit stop! Toilets can be found at the start point near the Royal Green area, giving you a handy opportunity to prepare before setting off along the seafront.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged explorers are welcome on the quest 🐾 With a mix of promenade, town streets and open seaside paths, it’s a great outing for dogs - just keep leads handy near roads, crowds and along the seafront.

Food & Drink Stops

Treasure hunting is hungry work! There are plenty of cafés, kiosks and refreshment stops along the seafront, so it’s easy to grab supplies as you go.

If the weather’s kind, you can enjoy a picnic on the beach or on one of the benches overlooking the sea - ideal for a mid-quest refuel.

Want to Make a Day of It?
