Sabotage at the Auction Houses - Can YOU Stop the Magnificent Magnet Scheme?

Strange things are occurring at the auction houses of Leyburn. Once the sale of a precious lot gets underway, the auctioneer's gavel bangs down after one measly bid, signalling the item sold. Rumours are that overzealous bargain hunter Esther-May Shun and her canine compatriot, Winnie Lott, have been tinkering with the houses' hammers! It's believed Esther-May has inserted a powerful gravitational magnet into these gavels, which she then activates once her paltry bid has been made. Auctioneers are feeling a bit tender with this catalogue of crimes and are searching higher and lower for some help in closing this deal. They've enlisted the services of Spy HQ who need to commission some top secret agents to get this assignment sealed. Well, what are you waiting for? Get going, going, gone...

Spy Mission Through Leyburn - Cracking the Code

Attention all secret agents! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to infiltrate the quaint market town of Leyburn, crack the code, and put an end to the magnificent magnet scheme orchestrated by Esther-May Shun. Your adventure begins in the bustling Market Place, where you'll gather vital clues before weaving through backstreets, tiptoeing beside the old railway line, and taking in the scenic views from The Shawl. But don't let the peaceful surroundings fool you - Esther-May and Winnie Lott are lurking somewhere, waiting to strike!

Are you ready to take on this top-secret assignment and save the auction houses of Leyburn?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Leyburn, there are a few things you need to know...

The route isn’t friendly for wheelchair users and pushchairs due to unavoidable steps and grassy sections that may get muddy when wet.

Bring your four-legged friends along! This is a dog-friendly Trail route.

The closest long-stay pay and display car park to the Trail start point is just off Market Street (DL8 5AS).

There are some fantastic events in Leyburn’s calendar, all of which are great times to visit this lovely town. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions. Please check for event dates before setting off.

There are public toilets available towards the beginning of the Trail (payment required) and the route passes several snack shops, pubs and cafes along the way. The Shawl (Clues 10-11) is an ideal picnic spot.

Looking for more things to do near Leyburn? Make a day of it and visit the pretty waterfalls in the neighbouring villages of Wensley and Harmby, or explore the Old Glebe Nature Reserve. If you don’t mind travelling a little further out of town, Bolton Castle is well worth a visit in the spring and summer months.
