More Information:

Navigating The Route

This is a circular Treasure Hunt through Keith’s historic town centre, gardens and distillery area, with explorers following pavements, paths and some tracks as they track down Ivor De Enjean’s hidden hoard.

While much of the route is on paths, there are uneven sections and steps to negotiate, so it is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Sensible footwear is recommended, and take care when crossing roads and navigating busier town areas.

Getting There

Time to gather your explorers and begin the quest:

Keith & Dufftown Railway (The Whisky Line) – Keith Town Station Car Park (AB55 5BR) - Your expedition base and official starting point. From here, you’ll begin your search by tracking down the heritage board and following Ivor’s trail.

Need the Loo?

Even the boldest adventurers need a quick pit stop! Toilets can be found at:

Keith Library

Nearby car parks at Reidhaven Square (AB55 5AB) and Regent Square (AB55 5DX)

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged explorers are welcome on the quest. With town streets, paths and some greener areas to explore, it’s a good outing for canine companions - just keep leads handy near roads and in busier sections.

Food & Drink Stops

You’ll have plenty of chances to refuel along the way! As the Trail weaves through the town centre, there are lots of opportunities to pick up food, snacks and drinks, so you can keep your energy up as the hunt unfolds.

Want to Make a Day of It?

Railways, Steam & Scenic Journeys

Your adventure starts at the Keith & Dufftown Railway, a heritage line that winds through forests, distilleries and countryside. It’s well worth a ride if you fancy extending your day.

Distillery Visits & Local Flavour

The Trail takes you through Strathisla Distillery, one of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries. It’s a fascinating spot to explore (for the grown-ups!) and adds a unique twist to your treasure hunt.

Historic Streets & Hidden Stories

From war memorials to old bridges and winding lanes, Keith is packed with character. As you explore, you’ll uncover snippets of history and local legends woven into every corner.

Mini Explorer Club

We have three super duper themed Clubs for your child to enjoy as part of their Treasure Trail experience.

Perfect for 4-8 year olds, the concept behind the Clubs is that your child will get a bundle of goodies to excite them about their forthcoming Trail experience, something to keep them entertained whilst travelling to and from the Trail, and something to be given on completion of the Trail as a keepsake.
