The Golden Sandals of Crediton - A Sibling's Rivalry

Once upon a time, in the market town of Crediton, a pair of golden sandals were discovered by a brother and sister duo, Billy and Bobbi Bilder. These sandals were no ordinary shoes, for they were marked with the letters S and B, which could only mean one thing - they once belonged to Saint Boniface, the town's beloved martyr.

Excited by their discovery, Billy and Bobbi couldn't wait to show off their find to the townsfolk. But as they were cleaning the sandals, a heated argument broke out between the siblings. Billy wished to donate the sandals to the town for all to see, while Bobbi had other plans - she wanted to sell them to the highest bidder and retire to a life of luxury.

As the two were at a stalemate, Bobbi slyly snatched the sandals and disappeared, leaving Billy to search for his mischievous sister. But where did she go?

A Sibling's Adventure Through Crediton

Join Billy on an exciting self-guided walking adventure through the charming town of Crediton. As you follow in the footsteps of the Bilder siblings, you'll explore the town's historic landmarks, scenic paths, and quaint shops that are filled with stories of the past.

From the Winfrith's Well, where the sandals were first found, to the town's market square, where Billy and Bobbi's argument took place, you'll uncover fun clues that will lead you to Bobbi's hiding spot. But be careful - she's always been known to be one step ahead.

Join the adventure and discover the mystery of the golden sandals in Crediton!

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your curious quest to explore Crediton, there are a few things you need to know...

All areas are accessible daily between 8am and dusk.

Unfortunately, the route isn't friendly for wheelchair users and pushchairs due to narrow, uneven pathways and steps.

Bring your four-legged friends along! This Trail is along a dog-friendly route, though you will be searching for clues alongside busy roads at times, so they must be kept on leads for these parts. There's a large park later on though for them to run free!

Access may be restricted to some parts of the Trail on some days due to special events. The Town Square is host to a Farmer's Market on the first and third Saturdays of each month, so check the dates here before travelling. We would also recommend checking the Crediton events calendar ahead of travel.

There are public toilets available in Newcombe's Meadow (Clue 11) and in Town Square (Clues 14 & 15). The route passes several pubs, restaurants, cafes and snack shops along the way, and there are great picnic spots at Clues 10-13 and for a more urban experience, Clues 14-15.
