Calling all families and friends looking for a fun day out in Crail! Embark on an exciting self-guided Treasure Hunt through this picturesque fishing village, starting at Marketgate. As you follow the circular Trail, you'll explore a historic churchyard, stroll along High Street, and take in the splendid views of the River Forth from Castle Walk. Then, continue on to the harbour and a scenic walk by the sea.
But be warned-this Trail won't be easy. The clues are sneaky and cleverly hidden on existing buildings, permanent features, and monuments. Can YOU solve the riddles and uncover the location of the pirate's treasure before anyone else?

Navigating The Route
This circular Treasure Hunt explores the charming coastal town of Crail, guiding explorers through historic wynds, along the harbour and up towards the castle walk.
The route is around 1.5 miles and mostly follows pavements and clear paths, though there are cobbled sections, steps and some uneven ground along the harbour. Light pushchairs may manage with care, but the route isn’t suitable for wheelchairs.
Bring Your Furry Sidekicks
Four-legged explorers are welcome to join the quest! There are plenty of interesting scents to follow around the harbour, winding streets and coastal paths.
Just keep leads handy near roads, steps and around the harbour’s edge to keep your crew safe on their treasure hunt.

Drop anchor and prepare for your expedition:
Marketgate (KY10 3TH) - Parking can be found along here, close to the Trail start point near Crail Parish Church.
