Beaulieu - Station to Village

Navigating The Route

This is a driving Spy Mission from Beaulieu Station to Beaulieu Village, with TOP Agents stopping Dr Igor Centric after he magnetises the rails at Beaulieu Station and solving the dropped clues to crack the deactivation code.

The operation covers approx. 8 miles and should take around 2 hours to complete. You'll use an undercover vehicle to travel between Beaulieu Station and Beaulieu Village, with on-foot sections including the left grass verge by the station, a footpath over the bridge, a track to Bucklers Hard and the village High Street pavement.

This Trail is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Agents should cross roads carefully, use a safe place to cross the road and keep to the left-hand pavement on the High Street.

Take great care on the drive. There is a maximum speed limit of 40mph on all unfenced roads, and drivers should slow down for animals on the road or verge. After the final clue, return by vehicle along the same road back to Beaulieu Station, approx. five miles.

Getting There

By car: Start your mission at Beaulieu Station, parking in one of the forest car parks opposite The Drift Inn (SO42 7YQ), using ///beep.owns.helpers. Tickets bought here are also transferable to other Forestry England car parks.

The alternative car park is the village car park next to Beaulieu Garage (SO42 7YE). Make a sharp right into the village car park, next to Beaulieu Garage.

By public transport: Beaulieu Station is the mission start point, so make your way there to begin the operation. The Trail also passes a bus stop.

Need the Loo?

Useful comfort stops are available in the car park, at Clue 06 and at the final Clue, so Agents have a few chances to pause during the operation.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

If four-legged recruits are joining your squad, plan around the roads, animals and on-foot sections. 🐾

This route includes driving on unfenced roads, animals on the road or verge, road crossings, a station-side grass verge, a footpath over the bridge, a track to Bucklers Hard and the village High Street pavement. Keep canine companions close around traffic, village pavements and any New Forest animals you encounter.

Food & Drink Stops

Espionage burns through rations quickly, but there are chances to stop for refreshments and stock up on snacks in Beaulieu Village.

If you prefer to bring your own supplies, there are picnic opportunities after Clue 06 or by Clue 12 - ideal for a tactical refuel before the next phase of the code-cracking.

Beaulieu Road pony sales

The auction of New Forest ponies takes place here so that Commoners of the New Forest can sell their ponies and donkeys. The sales have taken place at Beaulieu Road for over 60 years, making this a distinctive local tradition to look out for if your mission timing lines up.

Beaulieu Motor Museum

Beaulieu is the home of Lord Montagu's Motor Museum and is well worth a visit once Dr Igor Centric's railway meddling has been dealt with. Keep an eye out for the 'Flying' Ford Anglia from 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets', which was once owned by Arthur Weasley.

Palace House

Palace House was originally the Great Gatehouse of Beaulieu Abbey. Beaulieu was first opened to the public in 1952 with just five cars on show in the Palace House reception hall, before the cars had to be moved to sheds in the garden because the family objected to the smell of petrol throughout the house.

Patrick's Patch

Patrick's Patch is a vegetable garden in Beaulieu village, built in 2008 and managed by a head gardener and volunteers. Primary school children make regular hands-on visits to learn gardening skills and understand where our food comes from, so it's a fitting extra for curious young Agents.

Buckler's Hard

Buckler's Hard was a shipbuilding village where warships for Nelson's Navy were built, three of which took part in the Battle of Trafalgar. Since the mission includes a track to Bucklers Hard, it's a strong choice for Agents who like their secret operations with a blast of naval history.
