Mini Detective Club
We have three super duper themed Clubs for your child to enjoy as part of their Treasure Trail experience.
Perfect for 4-8 year olds, the concept behind the Clubs is that your child will get a bundle of goodies to excite
them about their forthcoming Trail experience, something to keep them entertained whilst travelling to and from
the Trail, and something to be given on completion of the Trail as a keepsake.

Before You Set Off
Before You Set Off
Before you embark on your crown-cracking case around Bathgate, here are a few handy tips...
Easy to Navigate - The Trail follows pavements and well-maintained paths, making it suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are a few steady inclines and one slightly bumpy stretch near the sports centre, but nothing a determined detective can’t handle.
Bring Your Furry Sidekicks - DCI Regal Beagle would never leave HQ without his four-legged Aide! The route includes a couple of green spaces - especially around the park by the sports centre - ideal for a quick sniff and stretch. Just keep leads handy and check for any signs or local restrictions.
Parking Sorted! - There’s free parking at the Acredale/ Opal Car Park (EH48 1PP), right near the Trail’s starting point at St David’s Church. Handy if you're planning pre-investigation prep or post-case celebrations.
Need the Loo?
Toilets can be found at:
Bathgate Partnership Centre (Clue 06) – open weekdays and Saturday mornings.
Bathgate Sports Centre/XCITE (near Clue 15) – public toilets available during opening hours.
Nearby cafés and shops – most welcome customers, so a drink and a break could be a win-win.
Want to Make a Day of It?
Discover Bathgate’s Royal Past - Pop into the Bennie Museum to uncover Bathgate’s history – from ancient artefacts to curious local treasures. It’s free to visit and full of the town’s hidden gems.
Tee Off on History - The remains of Bathgate Castle, once gifted to Marjorie Bruce (Robert the Bruce’s daughter), lie beneath the local golf course. While nothing’s visible today, it’s a great excuse to hit the fairways and channel your inner king or queen.
Events & Entertainment - Bathgate boasts regular live music, gala days and community parades — especially in June during the Bathgate Procession and John Newland Festival, a tradition dating back to 1844. Check local listings to time your visit with the festivities!
