The Mysterious Case of the Roman Baths - Can YOU Solve the Secret?

Local plumber Ivor Leakidge was working on the pipes of the Roman Baths when he stumbled upon a shocking discovery. In his opinion, the baths were not actually Roman at all, but rather a modern creation! Librarian Paige Turner was sceptical of Ivor's findings and set out to prove him wrong. However, before Ivor could share his theory with the press, he met an untimely end. The local police have been struggling to solve the case, so Detective Chief Inspector Jack Oosey is turning to you (the best detectives around!) to help solve this mysterious case. Can you uncover the culprit behind this Roman Baths cover-up?

A Detective Mystery Through Bath

Budding detectives, it's time to put on your thinking caps and embark on this immersive self-guided detective mystery through the stunning World Heritage spa city of Bath. As you explore the Georgian streets, passing by grand townhouses on the Royal Crescent and through lush gardens to the famous Roman Baths, you'll need to keep your eyes peeled for sneaky clues and hidden secrets.

But beware, this investigation won't be a walk in the park. Local plumber Ivor Leakidge was always one step ahead, and only the most astute detectives will be able to piece together the clues and solve the mystery.

Are YOU ready to take on the challenge and uncover the truth behind the Roman Baths' secret?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Bath, there are a few things you need to know...

The route is wheelchair and pushchair friendly.

Bring your four-legged friends along, but please note that some parks may require you to keep pooches on leads.

The closest long stay pay and display car park to the Trail start point is at Manvers Street (BA1 1JZ). However, we would suggest using one of Bath's Park and Ride services - especially during busy periods.

There are some fantastic events in Bath's calendar, including the Bath Festival, Jane Austen Festival and some amazing Christmas Markets. You may find that during these events, some of the clues may become obstructed or difficult to access. If you would like further information about event dates, please contact Bath Visitor Centre.

Also please be aware that when the Bath Half-Marathon is taking place in October, the Trail route will also be disrupted. Check their website link to find the date of the next upcoming event.

There are public toilets available at various points throughout the Trail, and the route passes several pubs, restaurants and a few cafes along the way.

Looking for more things to do in Bath? Make a day of it and visit the famous Roman Baths or spend your afternoon in Jane Austen's shoes with a trip to the Jane Austen Centre, a stop for high tea and a 'constitutional' around the Georgian Garden! Or, challenge yourself to one of our other Bath Trails to uncover more twisting tales about the city!
