Uncovering Lady Marian's Hidden Jewels

The Lost Jewels of Lough Neagh - A Treasure Hunt Adventure

As Lady Marian prepares for dinner, she notices something amiss outside her window. Enemy boats have landed on the shores of Lough Neagh, and she is the only one who has spotted them! With her pet wolfhound by her side and her jewellery box in hand, Lady Marian flees her room, taking refuge with the rest of the household. But in the chaos, she must hide her precious jewels. Returning to the castle later, she finds that her hiding spot has been disturbed, and her jewels are missing. Centuries have passed, but the value of Lady Marian's treasure has never been forgotten. Now, the Exploration Society needs brave adventurers to retrieve these jewels and return them to their rightful owners. Are YOU up for the challenge?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Antrim (Antrìm/Aontroim), there are a few things you need to know...

PLEASE NOTE - Parts of the gardens might be closed on public holidays, so it's worth checking before setting off.

The route is friendly for wheelchair users and pushchairs.

Bring your four-legged friends along! This is a dog-friendly Trail.

The closest car park to the Trail start point is at Lough Shore Park (BT41 4DQ), where your quest begins.

There are some fantastic events in Antrim Castle Garden’s calendar, including the stunning Enchanted Winter Garden, all of which are great times to visit this beautiful area. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions and that the area is busier than usual. We recommend checking for events before you set off on your quest.

There are public toilets available towards the beginning and middle of the Trail, and the route passes a couple of cafes and plenty of picnic spots along the way. It’s only a short walk to Antrim town centre from the gardens if you needed more refreshment options or snack shops.

Looking for more things to do in Antrim Castle Gardens? There’s plenty more to see in the gardens, along the Six Mile water and around Lough Shore Park for keen explorers. Or take a peek at the exhibitions running in Clotworthy House to learn more twisting tales about the area.
