Jubilee Line - Baker Street to the Tower

Essential Intel

This is a linear Trail from Baker Street to the Tower of London area, so it does not loop back to the start.

You will need a Travelcard or pre-loaded Oyster Card for the Jubilee Line and DLR sections.

This Trail is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Not all stations are accessible, so only bring pushchairs if you can fold them to take on the escalators.

Navigating The Route

This is a linear Treasure Hunt from Baker Street to the Tower of London, with Explorers helping Barratt, the great-great-grandson of Sherlock Holmes, track down the missing Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Diamond.

The quest covers 2 miles and should take between three to six hours to complete. You'll begin outside the Sherlock Holmes Museum on Baker Street, follow the Jubilee Line and DLR, and investigate locations including Baker Street, Green Park, Westminster, Waterloo, Canary Wharf and the Tower Hill and Tower of London area.

Stations can be busy, with steps and escalators to watch out for. Take care around busy Underground and DLR stations, stairs and escalators, and mind the gap. Above ground, be cautious of traffic and use marked pedestrian crossings, including around Parliament Square and Tower Gateway.

If you'd rather stay above ground between Westminster and Waterloo, you can walk from Westminster Station to Waterloo via St James's Park, Birdcage Walk and Parliament Square. You may also walk the section from Westminster to Waterloo, crossing Westminster Bridge and turning left into Belvedere Road. The above-ground route between Westminster and Waterloo is a pleasant journey of about 20 minutes.

Getting There

By car: Start your search outside the Sherlock Holmes Museum on Baker Street (NW1 6XE). As this is a linear quest finishing in the Tower of London area rather than returning to Baker Street, plan your journey with that in mind before setting off.

By public transport: Make your way to outside the Sherlock Holmes Museum on Baker Street to begin the adventure. The route follows the Jubilee Line and DLR between Baker Street and the Tower of London, and you will need a Travelcard or pre-loaded Oyster Card.

Toilets are in most stations along the route, so build in a comfort stop when your team pauses between clues.

The route uses busy Underground and DLR stations as well as above-ground streets and parks, with steps, escalators, pedestrian crossings and traffic to manage. Keep canine companions close around stations, roads and crowds, and be ready for stairs, escalators and mind-the-gap moments.

Food & Drink Stops

Diamond-hunting is hungry work, but there are plenty of snack shops and cafes along the way.

You can also pack a picnic to enjoy in one of the parks, giving your Explorers a breather between Baker Street sleuthing and Tower-bound treasure tracking.

Sherlock Holmes Museum and Baker Street

The Trail begins outside the Sherlock Holmes Museum on Baker Street, making it a suitably sleuthy launch point for Barratt's family mystery. The route also passes the statue of Sherlock Holmes outside Baker Street station, so keep your eyes peeled before the Jubilee Diamond hunt gathers pace.

Green Park and Canada Gate

The quest enters Green Park from the south side of Piccadilly and follows signs for Buckingham Palace. You'll also pass by Canada Gate on the road opposite the palace, giving your Explorers a grand royal-flavoured pause in the middle of the search.

Parliament Square

The route passes through Parliament Square, including the central island reached by pedestrian crossings. It's a great place to slow down, take in the view and regroup near Westminster Station before the next stage of the adventure.

Canary Wharf, Montgomery Square and Jubilee Park

The Trail continues to Canary Wharf, including Montgomery Square and Jubilee Park next to the tube station. Look out for the twisted Arbor in Montgomery Square while your team hunts for the next pieces of treasure-tracking evidence.

Tower Hill and the Roman London Wall

At Tower Hill, a fragment of the Roman London Wall forms part of the station architecture and appears at platform level. It's a striking final flourish of old London as the hunt reaches the Tower Hill and Tower of London area.
