A mystery is waiting to be solved in
East Lancashire Railway
** IMPORTANT ** This Trail has been designed to be completed by travelling along the East Lancashire Railway by train, for which separate charges apply. See the East Lancashire Railway site for details of charges, operating times and timetables. Whilst it could be completed by car, the Trail contains clues within Bury station building which is closed outside of railway operating times.
The annual Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival is just around the corner, and the excitement is palpable among the chocaholics of the town. But when world-famous chocolate maker, Billy Bonka, is found slumped in his carriage on the Chocolate Express, the festivities quickly turn into a sweet mystery. With evidence scattered along the train tracks like chocolate buttons, it's up to YOU to put on your detective hat and solve the case.

Clues 1 - 4 of this Trail are set within Bury's Bolton Street station, which often operates restricted opening hours. Those hours are subject to change at short notice but can be seen via a Google Search here. For complete peace of mind, we would however recommend telephoning them on 0333 320 2830 to make sure that they are open before you intend to complete the Trail.
Trail Stops:
This Trail involves exploring three separate locations along the East Lancashire Railway Line: Bolton Street Station in Bury, Irwell Vale, and Ramsbottom. The suggested way to navigate is by rail. Starting at Bury, solve the clues in Bolton Street Station. Then, purchase a return ticket to Irwell Vale (ticket price not included in your Trail). Travel to Irwell Vale by train, alight and explore to solve the clues there. Get on a train heading back towards Bury, but alight at Ramsbottom along the way to solve some clues there. Your return ticket will allow you to hop off at any stop to break up your journey, including Ramsbottom.

We have three super duper themed Clubs for your child to enjoy as part of their Treasure Trail experience.
Perfect for 4-8 year olds, the concept behind the Clubs is that your child will get a bundle of goodies to excite
them about their forthcoming Trail experience, something to keep them entertained whilst travelling to and from
the Trail, and something to be given on completion of the Trail as a keepsake.
