Oh no! The peaceful town of Stratford-upon-Avon is under threat from an evil plot to unleash a terrible smell upon its innocent citizens. The Royal Shakespeare Theatre has been targeted, and a huge bag of stink has been discovered on its roof, set to go off during rush hour tomorrow. It's up to you, our SUPER SPIES, to uncover the clues and find the code to stop the bag from bursting and ruining the town. But be careful, the enemy spies from the Antibard Group will stop at nothing to distract you from your mission. Good luck!
Spy Mission Through Stratford-upon-Avon
Are you ready for an outdoor escape room adventure in the picturesque town of Stratford-upon-Avon? Put your spy skills to the test on this self-guided mission, following the trail of clues and solving puzzles just like a true secret agent. Your journey will take you through the beautiful Bancroft Gardens, into the Firs Gardens, and through the heart of the town.
But beware, the route also leads you along a portion of the tow path of the Stratford-upon-Avon canal, so keep your eyes peeled for enemy spies trying to throw you off track. Can you solve the clues, crack the code, and save the town from a smelly disaster?

Navigating The Route
This is a circular spy mission through Stratford-upon-Avon’s historic streets, gardens and canal towpaths, with agents following pavements, paths and waterside routes as they track down vital intel. There are steps, varied terrain and canal-side sections along the way, so the route is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Take extra care near the water, as there are stretches without barriers, and stay alert for cyclists along the towpath.
Getting There
Time to deploy your agents and begin the operation:
Bancroft Gardens (CV37 6BA) - Your official mission start point, right beside the canal basin and Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
Recreation Ground Car Park (CV37 7LS) - Spy HQ’s recommended parking spot, just a short walk from the start.
Need the Loo?
Even elite agents need a quick comfort break!
Toilets are available at the car park near the start of your mission, and later at Windsor Road Car Park (near Clue 15). There are also plenty of cafés and shops along the route - perfect for a discreet refuel while staying undercover.
Bring Your Furry Sidekicks
Four-legged agents are welcome to join your mission.
With gardens, town paths and canal routes to explore, it’s a great outing for canine companions - just keep leads handy near roads and especially along the water.
Canal Zones & Cover Required
Parts of this mission take place along the canal, where enemy agents (and possibly suspicious ducks…) may be lurking. Keep a safe distance from the edge, watch your footing and stay alert at all times.
Safe Zones & Refuelling
There are several ideal places to pause and regroup:
At the start near the car park (toilets available) and between Clues 13–15 (shops and cafés for undercover breaks).
Both perfect for reviewing your notes before or during the mission.
