Top secret!

We've got a mission for you in

Nottingham

It's well known that ruthless CEOs across the city are keen to demolish Nottingham Castle in favour of a mini-golf course - perfect for their meetings apparently! Angered that the council has refused a demolition order, they've taken the matter into their own hands. They've planted a device at the base of the castle that, when set off, will cause the historic building to vanish! We can't let that happen! HQ have gathered intel across the city and need you - our TOP Agents - to solve these clues and crack the deactivation code to the dastardly device! Be warned - the cunning execs have hired henchmen to try to stop us thwarting their plan. They could be hiding anywhere! Take great care, Secret Agent, and stay alert at all times. Good luck…

More Information:

Navigating The Route

This is a circular spy mission through Nottingham’s historic streets, castle surroundings and canal towpaths, with agents following pavements, paths and waterside routes as they track down vital intel.

The route is mostly level, but includes some steep sections, cobbles and varied terrain, so it is not suitable for wheelchairs, though should be manageable for pushchairs in most places. Take extra care near the canal, as there are stretches without barriers, and keep a close eye on junior agents and tracker dogs at all times.

Getting There

Time to deploy your agents and begin the operation:

Nottingham Castle Gates (NG1 6EL) - Your official mission start and finish point.

NCP Maid Marian Way Car Park (NG1 6AE) - Spy HQ’s recommended parking spot, just a short walk from the start.

Need the Loo?

Even elite agents need a quick comfort break!

Toilets can be found at the train station near Clues 11–12 during your mission. There are also plenty of cafés, pubs and snack stops along the route - perfect for a discreet refuel while staying undercover.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged agents are welcome on this mission.

With city streets and canal paths to explore, it’s a great outing for canine companions - just keep leads handy near roads and especially along the water.

Canal Zones & Stealth Required

You’ll spend part of your mission along the canal towpath, where footing can be tricky and enemy henchmen may be lurking (possibly in scuba gear…). Stay well back from the edge and move carefully through these sections.

Safe Zones & Refuelling

There are plenty of opportunities to pause and regroup along the route, with cafés, pubs and picnic spots available.

Canal-side benches (around Clues 07–11) make excellent undercover rest stops - perfect for reviewing your intel before pushing on.

Want to Make a Day of It?

Castle Capers & Historic Intrigue

This mission begins and ends at Nottingham Castle, steeped in history and drama. From civil war beginnings to modern-day plots, it’s the perfect HQ for a high-stakes operation.

Canal Paths & Covert Routes

The canal stretch offers a quieter, more scenic section of your mission - ideal for slipping past enemy agents… just don’t get too distracted by the views!

Outlaws, Inns & Hidden Stories

With links to Robin Hood, historic inns and centuries of city life, Nottingham is packed with stories. Keep your eyes peeled - in a place like this, anyone could be part of the plot…

Mini Secret Agent Club

We have three super duper themed Clubs for your child to enjoy as part of their Treasure Trail experience.

Perfect for 4-8 year olds, the concept behind the Clubs is that your child will get a bundle of goodies to excite them about their forthcoming Trail experience, something to keep them entertained whilst travelling to and from the Trail, and something to be given on completion of the Trail as a keepsake.
