Navigating The Route
This is a circular Treasure Hunt through Prestbury's historic village centre, winding lanes and ancient churchyard, with explorers following pavements, footpaths and quiet streets as they track down the hiding place of Professor S. P. Ectre's missing chest of ghostly field notes.
The route is mostly level and follows pavements and established paths throughout, making it suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. However, care is needed in the churchyard, where surfaces can be uneven in places.
⚠️ Important: You will be travelling along village roads and crossing several streets during your quest. Explorers should stay alert to traffic, use crossing points where available and keep younger adventurers and canine companions under close supervision.
Getting There
Time to gather your explorers and begin the search:
By car: Parking is available on streets near The Bank and Idsall Drive (GL52 3AR), close to the start of your adventure.
By public transport: Local bus services from Cheltenham stop close to the start point at The Bank (GL52 3AU), making it easy to reach Prestbury without a car.
Your quest begins on the grassy area beside the war memorial at the junction of The Bank and Prestbury High Street, where your first ghostly clue awaits.
Need the Loo?
Even the bravest explorers need a comfort break during a spooky expedition! Unfortunately, there are no public toilets along the route, so it is best to plan ahead before setting off on your search for the Professor's hidden hoard.
Bring Your Furry Sidekicks
Four-legged explorers are welcome on this quest 🐾
With village streets, pavements and public paths throughout, it is a pleasant outing for canine companions. Just keep leads handy near roads and when exploring around the churchyard.
Food & Drink Stops
Treasure hunting can work up quite an appetite!
You'll find shops near the start for stocking up on supplies, along with a couple of pubs along the route where weary explorers can pause for refreshments while comparing notes on Prestbury's many ghostly tales.
