Will Magnet Mayhem Cause Barrow to Narrow?

Attention, Agents! Dr. Igor Centric, the nefarious scientist, has been causing trouble once again. He’s placed a series of incredibly strong magnets along Walney Island and the mainland opposite, threatening to bring Barrow’s docks to a standstill. Dr. Igor has now sent a ransom demand to Spy HQ, warning that if we don’t pay up, he’ll activate these magnets and close the gap between the island and Barrow, trapping everything in the docks!

We do have some good news. Dr. Igor’s clumsiness has left us with a series of clues scattered around the Barrow Dock Museum and Channelside. These clues could hold the key to deactivating the magnets and saving Barrow from disaster.

Crack the Code and Save Barrow!

Get ready for a thrilling, family-friendly adventure through the Dock Museum and scenic waterfront area of Barrow-in-Furness. As top-secret spies, you’ll follow the Trail along the waterfront, starting at the Dock Museum and finishing at Channelside Haven, having solved the sneaky clues hidden among historic relics and modern day features along the way.

But beware! Dr. Igor has hired a team of enemy agents to foil your mission and clean up his mistakes. Time is of the essence - can you crack the code before it’s too late and prevent a disaster?

Your mission to deactivate the magnets and save Barrow begins now - are you up for the challenge?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Please Note:

This secret mission will have you exploring around The Channelside Promenade area of Barrow-in-Furness. You'll be sneaking along clear paths and pavements, with some steps to navigate on the way. This means the assignment isn't suitable for any spies using wheels. Spy HQ would also recommend sturdy spy footwear for this operation.

As this mission is based around the quieter parts of town, here are some tips on where to stop off. There is a café and toilets in the free Dock Museum at the start and close to the finish, but do check ahead for opening times. There is also a coffee shop not far from Clue 08. Spy HQ suggest bringing your own provisions with you as there are lots of places for a picnic.

Allow extra time for an optional detour, which is suggested in the Trail and which you might want to take if you like a bit of a climb which ends in some great views of the town, and if you're lucky and it's a clear day, the Lakeland fells.
