Lettuce Turnip The Beet On Veg Bashing Baddie

A crumpled note, seemingly hastily put together from cut-out letters, lands on the desk of Detective Chief Inspector Sparrow. Its message? A rhyme that seems more playful than puzzling... or is it?

"There was a young man from Barrow,
Who grew a huge world-beating marrow,
When he took it one day
To a local display
It was shot with a big bow and arrow!"

With the Barrow’s Best Veg Fest just around the corner, a wave of tension sweeps through the town. Farmers, growers, and veggie enthusiasts are fearing that more than just marrows could be at risk - could someone be targeting the festival’s prize produce? It’s all gone from peas and quiet to absolute corn-age!

DCI Sparrow needs your help! You and your team of detectives are tasked with solving this bizarre case before the festival is ruined. Follow the self-guided investigation through the town's stunning sights and hidden gems, all while solving sneaky clues and piecing together the mystery.

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome adventure, there are a few things you need to know...

This puzzling investigation will have you exploring around Barrow's town centre, taking in some of its historical architecture and other intriguing aspects.

The route is level throughout, with no steps to navigate and clear road crossings, so is fully accessible for all budding detectives out there.

Bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that this can be a busy town centre, so dogs will need to be kept on leads.

The closest long stay, pay and display car park is at Market Street (LA14 2LN), next to the start of the Trail. There is a larger car park at Portland Walk, accessed off Forshaw Street (LA14 1RU)

There are plenty of places to pick up supplies or stop for a break towards the start and end of the Trail.

Public toilets are available in the Town Hall at the start / finish point (10-3 Mon-Sat only), in the library, and at Hall Street Car Park towards the end of the Trail.

Why not make a day of it by combining with one of our other two Barrow-in-Furness Trails: Barrow Park or Dock Museum & Waterfront.
