The line “deep and crisp and even” comes from the 1853 carol Good King Wenceslas. It tells the story of a real 10th-century Bohemian ruler known for acts of kindness. His legend inspired centuries of carol-singers - proof that following footsteps can lead to something wonderful.
It’s no surprise our favourite carol is Good King Wenceslas. He was the original Treasure Trail setter, leaving footprints in the snow to follow!
