More Information:

Navigating The Route

This is a circular investigation through Stratford-upon-Avon’s historic streets, riverside paths and canal basin, with detectives following pavements and well-maintained routes throughout.

The walking is fairly easy overall, though there are some busy areas and sections near open water. Take extra care along the canal basin and River Avon, and keep a close eye on your team - we don’t want anyone mysteriously turning into a frog mid-case!

Getting There

Time to gather your magical detectives and report for duty:

Swan’s Nest Lane near Stratford Butterfly Farm (CV37 7LS) - The official start point for your investigation. There is parking available in this area, making it a handy base to begin tracking down the rogue sorceress.

Need the Loo?

Even the most powerful spellcasters need a quick break!

Public toilets can be found near the start and finish by the Riverside Restaurant, and also along the route in Ely Street (around Clue 11). You’ll also pass plenty of cafés and shops through the town centre if your magical energy levels need a boost.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged companions are welcome to join your magical investigation

There are plenty of open spaces and riverside paths to enjoy, but keep leads handy near roads and especially around the water.

Want to Make a Day of It?

Riverside Rambles & Magical Moments

Bancroft Gardens and the riverside paths offer the perfect place to pause your investigation. With open green space and scenic views, it’s ideal for a picnic or a quick regroup before casting your next clue-solving spell.

Shakespeare’s Stratford

You’ll be exploring the hometown of William Shakespeare, passing landmarks linked to his life and works - including the area around his birthplace. With stories, statues and theatrical history around every corner, it’s a fitting setting for a mystery with a touch of magic.

Historic Streets & Spellbinding Sights

From timber-framed buildings to bustling market streets and hidden corners, Stratford is packed with character. Keep your eyes peeled - in a town like this, even the smallest detail could hold a vital clue… or a lingering spell!

Mini Detective Club

We have three super duper themed Clubs for your child to enjoy as part of their Treasure Trail experience.

Perfect for 4-8 year olds, the concept behind the Clubs is that your child will get a bundle of goodies to excite them about their forthcoming Trail experience, something to keep them entertained whilst travelling to and from the Trail, and something to be given on completion of the Trail as a keepsake.
