The Secrets of St. Albans Treasure Trail starts at:

Market Place
St Albans

Please Note:

Unfortunately, the route is not marked as friendly for wheelchair users due to some unavoidable steep hills. Those with light pushchairs should find this manageable.

We don’t recommend bringing your four-legged friends along for this mission, as you’ll be walking besides busy roads for the majority of the route. For a more dog-friendly adventure, try the Old St Albans treasure hunt Trail!

The churchyard is open only from 7.00am to 6.00pm on weekdays, and from 5.30 to 6pm on Saturdays, so give yourselves plenty of time to solve the Clues.

The closest long stay pay and display car park to the Trail start point is at Christopher Place, just a two-minute walk away.

There are some fantastic events in St Albans’ calendar, all of which are great times to visit this historic city. However, you may find that some of the Clues on this Trail may become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions. If you would like further information about event dates, please contact St Albans’ Tourist Information.

There are public toilets available towards the beginning and the middle of the Trail, and the route passes several pubs and a few cafes along the way.

Why not make a day of it and peek inside the cathedral, or pay a visit to the Verulamium Museum to uncover more twisting tales from the city’s past? If you’re up for a challenge and a touch of adventure, you could tackle our Old St Albans treasure hunt Trail!
