The Glassmaker's Secret - Will YOU Uncover the Lost Loot?

Back in the medieval times, the quaint town of Alcester was home to a skilled glassmaker who had a secret passion for more than just creating beautiful glass pieces. Rumour has it he also dabbled in glass-lined coffins and chests, catering to the wealthy and their extravagant tastes. But with no heirs to inherit his fortune, the glassmaker is said to have buried his golden hoard somewhere in the town, waiting for a lucky adventurer to find it.

Recently, during an excavation in Alcester, a map and a set of clues were discovered, perfectly preserved in glass. The Exploration Society believes that this map will lead to the glassmaker's lost treasure, and we need YOU - our TOP Adventurers - to follow the clues and pinpoint the exact spot where we should dig. Are you ready for the challenge?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Navigating The Route

This is a Treasure Hunt split across two historic towns - Alcester and Bidford-on-Avon, with explorers following pavements, lanes and short footpaths as they hunt down a long-lost hoard hidden by a medieval glassmaker.

The adventure includes a 6-mile drive between locations, with walking sections in each town taking you through high streets, quieter back lanes and riverside areas.

Getting There

By car:

Park at Bulls Head Car Park, Moorfield Road, Alcester (B49 5BX) - your first base camp and starting point.

Midway through your quest, you will drive approximately 6 miles to Bidford-on-Avon, where you can park at Saxon Fields Car Park (B50 4JA) to continue the adventure.

By public transport:

Public transport options between the two towns are limited, so travelling by car is strongly recommended for this quest.

Need the Loo?

Even the most intrepid explorers need a quick pit stop! Toilets can be found near Clue 13 in Bidford-on-Avon, so it’s worth planning ahead as facilities are limited during the Alcester section of your quest.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged explorers are welcome on the quest 🐾 However, please note that Clues 10 and 11 are located inside a churchyard where dogs are not permitted. This is easily managed if one team member is happy to wait just outside while the others pop in to gather the clues.

Food & Drink Stops

Treasure hunting is hungry work! There are plenty of opportunities to grab refreshments in Alcester, making it the best place to stock up before setting off or before your drive.

Options are more limited in Bidford-on-Avon, so you may wish to bring snacks or a picnic to enjoy along the river or near the church once you arrive.

Want to Make a Day of It?
