Grumpy quantum physicist Hans O. Thyme has a plan. He has invented a time machine and is preparing to travel back to 1066 to change the course of history! Now, everyone knows that messing with the fabric of time is a terrible idea - don't they? If he succeeds, then everything we know about Britain and the world today would be different. Unfortunately, he's refusing to change his mind… So our mission is to stop him. Clues to the special code which will override Hans' machine are scattered around the town of Battle. We need help from TOP Agents to solve the Clues, crack the code, and stop the clock on his experiment. Do YOU have what it takes? Before you set off on your awesome adventure, there are a few things you need to know...

This route is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs due to some steps, narrow passageways and a small section with no pavement.

Bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that this is a busy town, so dogs will need to be kept on a lead during the Trail. Only dogs on leads will be permitted into the cemetery at Clue 10.

The Trail starts at Mount Street pay and display car park (TN33 0EG), so we recommend parking here.

There are some fantastic events in Battle's calendar, all of which are great times to visit this beautiful town. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail may become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions. If you would like further information about event dates, please contact Battle's Visitor Information Point.

There are public toilets available at the start of the Trail, and the route passes several cafes, pubs and restaurants throughout the first half of the route and towards the end of the Trail.

Why not make a day of it and visit Battle's Museum of Local History or English Heritage's 1066 Battle of Hastings, Abbey and Battlefield attraction to discover more twisting tales of the town's famously fascinating past?
